Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile won’t receive further updates, and support is ending as Activision shifts focus following underwhelming performance in the crowded mobile battle royale market.
Activision has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is winding down. While the servers will remain online for now, no more updates or content will be coming, and the writing’s clearly on the wall: the game is on borrowed time.
Despite the global success of CoD Mobile, which continues to be one of Activision’s most profitable projects, Warzone Mobile just couldn’t find its footing. Launched in March 2024, it’s now being quietly phased out just a little over a year later.
So, what went wrong? Well, the mobile battle royale scene is already jam-packed with heavy hitters like Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and Fortnite, all of which dominate in regions where mobile gaming is king. Warzone Mobile simply didn’t break through in a meaningful way—and Activision is now cutting its losses.
No More Spending, No Refunds
Players can no longer make in-game purchases, and Activision has clarified that refunds won’t be issued for any previous purchases or unused COD Points. The only silver lining is that you can still access your content—if you have the game installed before May 19, 2025.
“Refunds are not available for previously purchased in-game content or unused COD Points. However, you can continue to enjoy the content if you have the game installed before May 19, 2025,” the company stated.
Basically, if you snagged a mobile-exclusive Operator or skin, it’s yours to keep—but only until the game is gone. After May 19, anyone without it installed will be locked out for good.
Warzone Mobile Team Moving On
The development team behind Warzone Mobile said that they’re already onto new projects. Interestingly, they won’t be shifting to CoD Mobile, which is handled by Tencent’s Timi Studio. That game continues to thrive independently, with a totally separate dev pipeline.
As for what’s next for the Warzone Mobile team? That remains a mystery.
In a statement, the devs explained the tough decision:
“This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors and while we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”
So, if you’re curious or want to revisit Warzone Mobile before it disappears for good, make sure to download it before May 19, 2025. After that, it becomes another case of “gone too soon”—or, depending who you ask, “gone exactly when expected.”
