Pokémon GO’s Ancients Recovered event runs June 23–27, bringing back Legendary Giants like Regirock, Regice, and Regigigas, shiny chances, Max Battles, and a new Global Challenge.
The Legendary Giants are marching back into Pokémon GO just ahead of GO Fest 2025. Niantic has officially announced the Ancients Recovered event — a five-day celebration running from June 23 to June 27, 2025, featuring heavy raid action, shiny opportunities, exclusive rewards, and a new twist with Gigantamax Max Battles.
📆 Event Overview
Ancients Recovered begins on June 23 at 10 a.m. and wraps up on June 27 at 8 p.m. local time. For four days, a different Legendary Giant will headline five-star raids each day, culminating in a final-day frenzy where all six Giants appear together.
Legendary Giants making a return:
- Regirock
- Regice
- Registeel
- Regieleki
- Regidrago
- Regigigas
All six Pokémon will have a chance to appear as shiny variants, and any caught during Raid Hour (6–7 p.m. local time) will know exclusive event attacks. For example, Regirock will come with Earthquake, Regigigas with Crush Grip, and Regidrago will get both Dragon Breath and Dragon Energy.

💥 Max Battles: Gigantamax Debut
A huge highlight of the event is the introduction of Max Battles, featuring:
- Gigantamax Rillaboom
- Gigantamax Cinderace
- Gigantamax Inteleon
These high-difficulty raids allow up to 40 players and can be accessed at Power Spots, adding a new layer of multiplayer coordination.
🧪 Timed Research: Legendary Giants
Free raid-themed Timed Research will be available throughout the event. Completing it will earn encounters with each Legendary Giant, and players who finish it will unlock a “surprise choice” — a mysterious bonus Niantic hasn’t yet revealed. The research can be repeated multiple times.
🐦 Fleeting Legends: Paid Timed Research
For $7.99, Trainers can unlock the Fleeting Legends Timed Research, leading to an encounter with one of the Galarian Legendary Birds:
- Galarian Articuno
- Galarian Zapdos
- Galarian Moltres
The ticket is purchasable and giftable to friends (Great Friends or higher) from June 23 to June 29.
🌍 Global Challenge & Bonuses
A new Global Challenge will run from June 22 at 1 p.m. PDT to June 27 at 1 p.m. PDT. If completed, all players will receive boosted bonuses through June 29, including:
- Increased effectiveness of Premier Balls after raids
- Faster Party Power charge in raids
