Quordle #1272, July 19, 2025 — Hints & Answers

Hints to Get You Started:

  • Across all four words, there are three different vowels—but not every word has all of them.
  • Three out of four words have a double letter—don’t overlook the twins!
  • None of today’s words include those spicy letters like Q, Z, X, or J—we’re keeping it basic.
  • The starting letters of the four words are:
    E, C, T, S

The Answers:

  1. EARLY
  2. CLICK
  3. TRITE
  4. SPREE

How I Solved It (AKA: My Brainstorming Session)

I went in with a standard starter—something like SLATE—and it gave me decent feedback across the board. From there, I tested words with repeat letters and some harder consonants, and suddenly, things started falling into place:

  • One word felt like it was yelling “I’m punctual!”—and boom: EARLY.
  • Another word gave clicky, techy vibes—figured out that CLICK was lurking.
  • Then came the word that screamed “Ugh, so overused…”—yup, TRITE.
  • Finally, I got one that just sounded like someone on a shopping binge: SPREE.

Quordle #1271, July 18, 2025 — Hints & Answers

Hints First (no spoilers… yet)

  • You’ve got 4 words, each 5 letters.
  • Word 1 (top-left): 1 vowel, 1 doubled letter; starts with C. Meaning: something super easy.
  • Word 2 (top-right): 2 vowels, no repeats; starts with F. Think lobby or entrance hall.
  • Word 3 (bottom-left): 2 vowels, no repeats; starts with F. A soft, crumbly sweet treat.
  • Word 4 (bottom-right): 1 vowel, 1 doubled letter; starts with T. Think chewy brown sugar candy.

The Four Answers

Puzzle PositionWordFun Definition
1 (top‑left)CINCHLiterally: a super easy win
2 (top‑right)FOYERLobby/entrance area
3 (bottom‑left)FUDGESoft, rich, chocolatey treat
4 (bottom‑right)TAFFYChewy brown-sugar candy

My Solving Path

  1. Cracked open with CRANE, spotted that A and E were yellow in Word 2 & 3.
  2. Tried CLOUD to drill vowels for Word 1—C and L in the right spots, but duplicate letters still flagged.
  3. Realized Word 1 was “CINCH” (super easy task) once I placed that C–N–C pattern.
  4. With the foyer clue, Word 2 rocked FOYER in one go—lobby vibes.
  5. Word 3’s yummy candy sweet? Went with FUDGE and nailed it.
  6. Finally, chewy treat champ TAFFY fit Word 4 perfectly.

Quordle #1270, July 17, 2025 — Hints & Answers

Act I: The Opening Move

You start with your trusty opener—maybe something like SLATE. The letters scatter like puzzle pieces, revealing fragments of something bigger. E’s and S’s light up. A T here, a P there… intriguing.

You throw out CRANE next. A stronger ping—C and R show their face on one grid. Somewhere, the letter O winks in another.

You’re onto something. The game is on.

Act II: Hints from the Shadows

You sense four different realms forming…

  1. Top Left has that crunchy, green vibe. Something edible, short, snappy. You guess CRESS—bingo! The word reveals itself like a curtain lifted.
  2. Top Right is cagey. Words feel off-limits. Something… forbidden. You try TABOO, and suddenly the whole grid lights up. Yes! Nailed it.
  3. Bottom Left feels like a storm waiting to erupt. It’s buzzing with potential, thrumming with anticipation. You try POWER—and it blasts open with authority. Boom.
  4. Bottom Right… this one stings. You feel bitterness, a person filled with spite. You sense it: HATER. You try it. Silence falls… then: green, green, green. You got it.

Act III: Victory is Yours

The board is silent now. All four words conquered:

  • CRESS
  • TABOO
  • POWER
  • HATER

Each one told a different story. A garden, a rule, a spark, a grudge.

You didn’t just solve the puzzle—you lived it. ✨

Quordle #1268, July 15, 2025 — Hints & Answers

Hints

All four words have:

  • 3 total distinct vowels across all boards
  • No Q, Z, X, or J anywhere
  • Exactly 1 word with a repeated letter
  • All four words start with different letters
  • Starting letters are: V, F, T, C

Answers

Word SlotAnswer
Top-leftVILLA
Top-rightFLECK
Bottom-leftTIGER
Bottom-rightCRANE

Solving Path

  1. Start wide with vowel-heavy guesses – Something like ADIEU or SLATE to get vowels and common consonants across all boards.
  2. First insight: VILLA
    • You might notice two L’s lighting up green/yellow on the top-left grid.
    • V sounds strong and double letters fit “VILLA.”
  3. Next up: FLECK
    • Once L, E, C, K are in place with no repeats, the F starter for that board locks it in.
  4. Then: TIGER
    • A vowel shuffle with I, E and letters like T, G, R show up. With T starting that grid, TIGER clicks.
  5. Finally: CRANE
    • The last board: C‑starter, same vowel pattern. C, R, A, N, E spells it out clean.

Hints

  • Vowel Count
    • Grid 1: 2 vowels
    • Grid 2: 2 vowels, with a double letter
    • Grid 3: 2 vowels, also with a double
    • Grid 4: 1 vowel but a triple consonant—oof
  • Starting Letters
    • Grid 1 starts with S
    • Grids 2–4 all start with P
  • Themes to Think About
    • Grid 1: A powerful movement or rise
    • Grid 2: The ultimate comfort food
    • Grid 3: Something you write or fold
    • Grid 4: A plant and a name that might remind you of flowers or opiates

Final Answers

  1. SURGE
  2. PIZZA
  3. PAPER
  4. POPPY

My Classic Solver Path

Turn 1: CRANE

It’s my go-to. Checks A, E, R, N, C. Immediate clues across all boards—solid yellow splash of A and R.

Turn 2: SLUMP

I wanted to test S and P—especially knowing multiple words might start with P. This also gave me U and M coverage. SURGE started revealing itself from here.

Turn 3: PIZZA (Yup, went for it early)

That double-Z was screaming in my brain from the grid’s layout. Hit it in 3 guesses on that board. Clean.

Turn 4: SURGE

Locked in after I got the U, R, and E in place. S was already green from SLUMP. Done.

Turn 5: PAPER

Saw the double-P after trying PASTA (don’t judge me), then PAPER slid in perfectly—vowels and R locked tight.

Turn 6: POPPY

Okay, this one was a trap. Only one vowel, but I saw triple consonant potential—P_PPY format became obvious once I tested with PAPPY. One switch and boom—POPPY.

This one had everything: double letters, sneaky triple consonants, and a vowel-light final word. Loved it.

  • 6 guesses to clear all 4 boards
  • Most satisfying: POPPY—totally baited me for a second
  • MVP guess: SLUMP—helped narrow down everything fast

Hints:

  • Word 1: A type of small boat used by Arctic peoples.
  • Word 2: To strongly criticize or belittle something.
  • Word 3: Describes a healthy reddish face color.
  • Word 4: Someone who dislikes something just because.

My Personal Quordle 1266 Experience (Still Spoiler-Free)

I went in with my usual openers: SLATE, ROUND, and CHIMP. Those three give me good coverage and usually start shaking loose some yellows and greens fast.

Classic mode felt fair today — nothing super obscure, but one of the words had that annoying silent letter energy.

Chill Mode was ironically not chill at all. I kept circling the right answer for two of the words but just couldn’t land it. Got there eventually, but not without yelling at my screen.

Extreme Mode? Bruh. They really mean extreme. I was staring at double letters and second-guessing every guess like it was a chess move.

Sequence Mode, though? Surprisingly smooth. The order helped today — each word kinda fed the next. Very satisfying when that happens.

What is Quordle? And How Do You Play?

If you love Wordle but wish it were even harder, then say hello to Quordle—Wordle’s chaotic big brother!

Quordle takes the simple five-letter word puzzle you know and multiplies the challenge by four. Instead of solving one word, you have to solve four words at the same time. Sounds wild? It is—but that’s what makes it so fun!

How to Play Quordle

The basics are similar to Wordle, but with a twist:

Your Goal:

Solve four five-letter words at once.

How Many Guesses?

You get nine guesses—that’s three extra compared to Wordle, but you’ll need them!

How Does the Color System Work?

Each word follows the same color rules as Wordle:
Green = Correct letter in the right spot.
Yellow = Correct letter, but in the wrong spot.
Gray = Letter isn’t in the word at all.

How Do the Words Work Together?

Each guess you type applies to all four words at once. So one word might light up green, while another could stay mostly gray—you have to use the feedback to narrow down all four words simultaneously.

Where to Play?

You can play Quordle for free online at the official Quordle website. It’s available on both desktop and mobile, no downloads needed!

Tips & Strategies to Win at Quordle

1️⃣ Use a strong starting word – Pick a word with common letters (like STARE or RAISE) to quickly eliminate possibilities.

2️⃣ Watch all four grids – Don’t focus too much on just one word. The clues apply to all four words, so balance your attention!

3️⃣ Keep track of repeated letters – Since Quordle often includes words with double letters, don’t rule out guesses like “SWEET” or “FUNNY.”

4️⃣ Take advantage of extra guesses – You get three more guesses than Wordle, so use them wisely! Sometimes, a strategic guess (even if it’s wrong) can reveal key letters across all four words.

FAQ’s

What is Quordle?

How is Quordle different from Wordle?

While Wordle has you guess one word in six tries, Quordle ups the challenge by making you guess four words at once, with only nine total guesses. Each guess helps (or hurts) across all four puzzles.

When does Quordle reset each day?

A new Quordle puzzle drops every day at midnight local time. So you can start your daily brain workout first thing in the morning — or stay up late and play at 12:01!

Where can I play Quordle?

You can play Quordle for free on the official site: https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/quordle/

Can I play past Quordle puzzles?

Yep! Quordle has a built-in archive where you can go back and replay previous puzzles. Many fans (myself included!) love using it for practice or catching up on missed days.

Yes! Like Wordle, Quordle keeps track of your stats, streaks, and win percentage — just make sure you’re using the same device and browser to keep them saved.

Ready to Test Your Skills?

Quordle is a fun but challenging word puzzle that takes the classic Wordle experience to the next level. If you’re up for a real brain workout, give it a try and see if you can master all four words before running out of guesses!

Happy Quordling!
