Resident Evil Remake Gets a Surprise Update on Steam After 10 Years

Capcom has updated Resident Evil Remake on Steam after 10 years! Could it fix old bugs, or is something bigger coming?

Capcom has released a new update for Resident Evil Remake on Steam, even though the game is 10 years old. This has surprised fans, especially with rumors about Resident Evil 9 and a Code Veronica remake.

A Classic Horror Game

Resident Evil is one of the most famous horror games ever made. Over the years, Capcom has released many versions:

  1. The original game (1996)
  2. The Director’s Cut
  3. The Dual Shock Edition
  4. The 2002 Remake
  5. The 2015 Remastered Remake

The game’s spooky mansion, called Spencer Mansion, is a big part of why people love it. The 2002 remake changed puzzles and traps to surprise even players who knew the original game well.

What’s in the New Update?

On February 5, a small update appeared for Resident Evil Remake on Steam. Capcom only said it included “miscellaneous bug fixes.” But players looking into SteamDB found that a file called bhd.exe was changed. This file is part of the Mansion Content, both for local and worldwide versions.

Some settings for the PC version were also updated. In 2023, some players had problems with the game crashing. This update might be a fix for that.

Right now, Resident Evil Remake is on sale for $4.99 / £3.99 on Steam. If you haven’t played it yet, now might be a great time—especially if this update fixes any old issues.

Capcom Still Cares About Old Games

This update shows that Capcom still supports its classic games. Recently, they also announced a new Onimusha remaster, and fans have created a super-hard version of Resident Evil 2 Remake.

With all the talk about Resident Evil 9 and a Code Veronica remake, could this update mean something bigger is coming? Fans will have to wait and see!
