How to Recharge Enchanted Weapons in Oblivion Remastered – Full Guide

Running out of charge on your enchanted weapons in Oblivion Remastered? Here’s every method to recharge them, including soul gems, vendors, and Varla Stones.
How to Recharge Enchanted Weapons in Oblivion Remastered
One of the most annoying things about enchanted weapons in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is how quickly they run out of juice.
After just an hour or two of adventuring, you’re suddenly stuck swinging a glorified regular weapon. And let’s be real—without charge, enchantments are just expensive decorations.
If you want to keep those powerful effects firing on all cylinders, here’s how to refill your enchanted weapon’s charge meter. There are three main ways to do it:
1. Merchant Recharge Services
The easiest but most expensive method.
In Mages Guild Halls and the Arcane University, you’ll find special merchants who offer Recharge Services. You’ll spot them by the little Recharge icon (next to the Persuasion button) when talking to them.
- Cost: 1 Gold per 1 point of charge.
- Example: A weapon with 1600 total charge (like one using a Grand Soul) costs 1600 Gold to fully recharge.
- Verdict: Only use in emergencies. It’s super convenient, but it’ll burn through your gold fast. Even wealthy characters will feel the pain if they rely on this too often.

2. Soul Gems
The best long-term method.
Soul Gems can recharge enchanted items based on the power of the soul inside.
- Use the Soul Trap spell on enemies and kill them before the effect ends.
- You’ll need empty Soul Gems (Petty, Lesser, Common, Greater, or Grand) to trap them.
- Once filled, just use the Soul Gem from your inventory to recharge your weapon.
Where to find them:
- Buy from Mages Guild merchants (best bet).
- Loot from dungeons, necromancers, and other mages.
- Respawn vendor inventory by waiting 1 in-game week.
Pro tip: Always carry a few filled Soul Gems when dungeon diving—it’s free recharge on the go.
3. Varla Stones
Rare, powerful, and super efficient.
Varla Stones are special items found in Ayleid Ruins. When used, a Varla Stone instantly recharges all enchanted items in your inventory—no matter how many you have.
- One-time use
- Cannot be recharged or respawned
- Best used when multiple items are drained
Even if you only use one enchanted weapon, it’s still cheaper than using vendor services. Just be smart about when you pop one—these things are rare and finite.
Bonus Tip: Avoid Confusion with Welkynd Stones
Welkynd Stones are also found in Ayleid ruins, but they only restore Magicka—they won’t help with enchanted weapon charges.
So yeah, unless you’re rolling in gold, stick with Soul Gems for regular recharging and save those Varla Stones for boss fights or dungeon marathons. Stay charged, stay dangerous. 🔥🗡️
