A Venerable Vintage Quest Guide – Oblivion Remastered: All Shadowbanish Wine Locations

Hunting for Shadowbanish Wine in Oblivion Remastered? Here’s the full, easy-to-follow guide to complete “A Venerable Vintage” quest and grab all those sweet gold rewards!
Not every side quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a quick in-and-out deal. Some will have you trekking across the whole map looking for rare items — and trust me, if you don’t already know where to look, it can take forever.
One of these epic scavenger hunts is the quest called “A Venerable Vintage.” Even if you know the general idea, gathering all the stuff still eats up a chunk of time.
But honestly, that’s part of the fun. It’s perfect if you’re looking for an excuse to dive into every corner of the map and hit up some dungeons. Here’s everything you need to know to crush it.
How To Start “A Venerable Vintage”
You’ll kick things off at Wawnet Inn, just west of the Imperial City. Step inside and chat with the innkeeper, Nerussa. She’ll tell you about a super rare wine called Shadowbanish, which you can only find in a few hidden spots.
She’s kinda vague about where exactly to look, but the wine’s stashed away in forts scattered all over the map. There are eight forts total that guarantee you’ll find Shadowbanish Wine.
You only need six bottles to complete the quest, and since each fort has two bottles, you’ll only have to clear three forts minimum.
But, if you find more and bring them back, you’ll score even more rewards.
Every Shadowbanish Location
Fort Carmala

Head straight south from Chorrol and you’ll stumble upon Fort Carmala. It’s not a complicated place, but the chest is kinda hidden.
Once inside, follow the path until you see an iron gate. Before reaching it, take a right into a cave. You’ll find a door — go through it, take out the enemy, and check near the big coffin for a hard-to-spot wooden chest with two bottles inside.
Fort Dirich

From Fort Carmala, head southwest to Fort Dirich. Super easy run here.
Enter, go left, through a double door, then a single door. You’ll find yourself in a shrine-like room. Check behind the central coffin for the wine chest.
Fort Vlastarus

East of Skingrad and across the main road, Fort Vlastarus is a breeze to navigate.
Go straight after entering, hit a small iron gate, and when you spot those creepy burning corpses hanging from the ceiling, drop down and clear the room.
Keep going until you find a pillar in the middle of a room — that’s where your wine chest is chilling.
Fort Magia

This one’s a beast. East of the Imperial City, across the river, Fort Magia is a maze.
You’ll need to swim through a flooded section, dodge sea creatures, and navigate multiple levels underwater.
Find the Memorial area, head to a big shrine, dive into another pool, pick the right underwater cave (the far right one), and eventually pop out at the Garrison area. There’s a ghost guarding the prize, but once you get there, boom — two more bottles.
Fort Scinia

Quick one: Fast-travel to Cheydinhal, head southeast, and find Fort Scinia.
Inside, just keep moving straight until you hit the Hall of Legends. Again, straight ahead — and bam, there’s your chest. Watch out for marauders and skeletons, though.
Fort Aurus

Northeast of Bravil across the river.
This dungeon is pretty chill. Follow the halls till you spot a statue, go past it, hang a right, and then find a door. After going through, take an immediate left and grab your loot.
Fort Irony

Southeast of Bravil by the bay.
Another quick one. After entering, go straight until you see two paths. Take the left road to a double door. Right after entering, check around a pillar for your wine chest.
Fort Grief (Optional and Annoying)

Between Fort Aurus and Fort Irony on a little island.
Honestly? Avoid it unless you’re desperate. The entrance is locked, and you’ll need to do the “Caught in the Hunt” quest from Bravil rumors to even get inside.
If you do go for it, be ready for a tough lock-picking mini-game and a Very Hard lock at the chest on the roof.
Rewards for Completing “A Venerable Vintage”
Bring back six bottles to Nerussa, and she’ll hook you up with 1,000 Gold and finish the quest.
If you snag extra bottles, she’ll pay you an extra 100 Gold per bottle — and if you clear all the forts mentioned (except maybe Grief), you can pocket up to 2,000 Gold total. Not bad for a little wine scavenger hunt, right?
