How to Beat Visages (Mask Keeper) in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Full Guide

Visages Axon Boss Guide

Struggling against Visages (Mask Keeper) in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Here’s a full guide to beating both boss phases, breaking the masks, and grabbing your rewards.

How to Beat Visages (Mask Keeper) in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Nevrons are the usual troublemakers, but every once in a while, you run into something way bigger—like the Axons. These massive monsters pack serious power and a ton of Chroma.

To push through the main story, you’ll have to beat two Axons: Sirene and Visages. While Sirene is all about Charm debuffs and summoning dancers, Visages (also called the Mask Keeper) plays a much trickier game with a bunch of different masks. If you’re stuck on this boss, here’s everything you need to know to bring it down.

Where You’ll Find Visages (Mask Keeper)

When you reach the Visages’ island, you’ll get a “friendly” invitation from the Mask Keeper to come inside. Naturally, your party knows it’s a trap—and they’re 100% right.

Instead of rushing straight into the boss fight, take your time. There are four different routes on the island. The road straight to the Axon lines up with the Gestral trader when you’re facing the Rest Point flag at the entrance.

Before Accepting the Axon’s Invitation

If you go straight to the boss fight, you’ll be facing Visages with all three of its helper masks intact: Joy, Anger, and Sadness. These masks can heal, buff, and debuff the boss during the fight—which makes things way harder.

Pro tip:
Destroy the masks first before accepting the invitation!

Each route leads to a giant mask that acts like an elevator. To destroy them, you’ll need to answer a question based on the mask’s emotion. Choose the right answer, trigger the battle, and take them out one by one.

Visages (Mask Keeper) Boss Fight Guide

Phase 1 – Fighting Visages

In Phase 1, you’re fighting the Axon Visages itself. Here’s the deal:

  • Visages will summon different masks via a mirror.
  • Each mask changes its attack style and grants it new powers.
  • You can destroy the masks by hitting their glowing eyes.
  • Destroying tricky masks makes the fight easier, but be careful:
    • Destroying ALL masks causes Visages to self-destruct, dropping everyone to 1 HP.
    • It’s smarter to leave an easy-to-dodge mask alive to avoid this.

Get ready:
When Visages is close to going down, heal up and recharge AP—because Phase 2 starts immediately after.
