Chroma Elixirs are your emergency lifeline in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. These handy items heal your whole party outside of combat, and while you start the game with just one, you can increase your stock by finding Chroma Elixir Shards.

Each shard you collect gives you +1 to your Chroma Elixir capacity, so let’s break down exactly where to find them and how to use them like a pro.

🧩 All Chroma Elixir Shard Locations

There are four Chroma Elixir Shards to find in the game. Three of them are along the main story path, and one is in an optional area.

🟪 Chroma Elixir Shard #1 – Flying Waters

• Map: Flying Waters
  
• Location: Before reaching any expedition flags
  
• How to Find:
  
  • Follow the main path after entering Flying Waters.
    
  • You’ll come across your first Paint Cage — shoot all three locks using Free Aim.
    
  • The cage disappears and reveals the shard.

🟦 Chroma Elixir Shard #2 – Ancient Sanctuary

• Map: Ancient Sanctuary
  
• Starting Flag: Sanctuary Maze
  
• How to Find:
  
  • Continue down the critical path until you reach the domed building and a Robust Sakapatate.
    
  • Head to the back of this area into an alcove with Journal 63.
    
  • Destroy the three Paint Cage locks:
    
    • Two on the rocks around the area
      
    • One near the crates on the ground
      
  • Then, go back to the domed building and enter the foliage path beside it.
    
  • Jump across the platforms to reach the shard.

🟫 Chroma Elixir Shard #3 – Stone Wave Cliffs Cave

• Map: Stone Wave Cliffs Cave (optional area)
  
• How to Find:
  
  • Use the second grapple point, then cross the narrow bridge.
    
  • Go right, crawl through the tunnel, and climb the gold thread.
    
  • From this high point, shoot the three locks of a Paint Cage to claim the shard.

🟥 Chroma Elixir Shard #4 – Forgotten Battlefield

• Map: Forgotten Battlefield
  
• Starting Flag: Vanguard Point
  
• How to Find:
  
  • From the flag, go down the cannon slope and walk toward the Fading Woman NPC.
    
  • At the fork past her, go right and check the first alcove on your left.
    
  • Inside is a Paint Cage. Here’s where to find the three locks:
    
    • One in the crates next to the cage
      
    • One up high near the alcove entrance — look up
      
    • One at the end of the path to the right, then right again — inside more crates

🛠️ How to Use Chroma Elixirs

Chroma Elixirs can only be used outside of combat, and they restore health to all party members.

To use one:

1. Open the Expedition Menu
   
2. Look at the bottom-right corner of the screen
   
3. Press the prompted input to use a charge
   

💡 Tip: You can refill all your charges by resting at any expedition flag.
