How to Complete the Shrine of Hermaeus Mora & Get the Oghma Infinium

Complete Hermaeus Mora’s quest in Oblivion Remastered by collecting the souls of all 10 races. Here’s how to do it easily and unlock the powerful Oghma Infinium artifact.
If you’re working your way through the Daedric Shrine quests in Oblivion Remastered, the Shrine of Hermaeus Mora is the final one you’ll need to check off the list. As the Daedric Prince of Forbidden Knowledge, Hermaeus doesn’t make things easy—you’ll have to trap the souls of all 10 races in Cyrodiil to earn your reward. Sounds brutal, but there’s a clever workaround that saves you a lot of time (and guilt).
Here’s everything you need to know about starting the quest, collecting the required souls, and unlocking the legendary Oghma Infinium.
🧠 How to Start the Hermaeus Mora Shrine Quest

You’ll find Hermaeus Mora’s Shrine in the Jerall Mountains, northwest of the Imperial City. But before you can take on his task, there are a few must-hit requirements:
- Be at least level 20
- Complete all 14 other Daedric Shrine quests
- Finish the “Blood of Daedra” main quest by giving one Daedric Artifact to Martin
Once that’s all sorted, speak with Hermaeus Mora at the shrine. He’ll give you two essential items:
- Hermaeus Mora’s Soul Gem
- Mora’s Soul Trap Spell
You must cast the soul trap spell on each target before killing them, or their soul won’t be captured.

👤 How to Easily Collect the Souls of 10 Races
Yes, you technically need to kill an NPC from each of the 10 playable races in Oblivion Remastered, which includes:
- Altmer
- Argonian
- Bosmer
- Breton
- Dunmer
- Imperial
- Khajiit
- Nord
- Orc
- Redguard
Sounds like a hassle, especially if you’re trying not to hurt innocent townsfolk—but there’s a perfect shortcut.

✅ Fast Track Method:
- Travel to Peryite’s Shrine (southeast of the Imperial City).
- All of Peryite’s worshipers are still standing around there.
- Each of them conveniently represents a different race.
- Cast Mora’s Soul Trap on each one, then eliminate them.
- Their souls will automatically fill the special soul gem.
This method is by far the easiest and cleanest way to get it done.
📖 Claiming the Oghma Infinium Artifact
Once you’ve filled Hermaeus Mora’s Soul Gem with all 10 souls, return to his shrine. In exchange, he’ll reward you with the Oghma Infinium, one of the most powerful items in the game.
When you open the book, you’ll get to choose one of three distinct upgrade paths:
🗡️ Path of Steel
- +10 to Speed & Strength
- +10 to Blade, Blunt, and Heavy Armor
🕶️ Path of Shadow
- +10 to Agility & Speed
- +10 to Light Armor, Sneak, and Security
🔮 Path of Spirit
- +10 to Intelligence & Willpower
- +10 to Conjuration, Destruction, and Restoration
Once you choose a path and read the book, the boosts are permanent, and the book disappears—so pick wisely based on your build.
