Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Reveal Set for May 6 — What We Know So Far

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate

Bungie sets May 6 as the reveal date for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, the next major expansion post-Final Shape. Here’s everything we know, from teasers to the mysterious Nine.

Destiny 2’s Next Big Chapter: The Edge of Fate Reveal Set for May 6

Bungie is ready to lift the curtain on what’s next for Destiny 2, and fans won’t have to wait long. The reveal for the game’s next major expansion, officially titled The Edge of Fate, goes live May 6 at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST / 5 PM BST.

This comes after months of speculation following the launch of The Final Shape in June 2024, and a series of post-expansion Episodes — Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy — meant to fill the gap before the next big content drop.

From Codenames to Confirmation: Frontiers Becomes Edge of Fate

Previously, all we had to go on were internal codenames: Frontiers, with its two parts dubbed Apollo and Behemoth. As of Bungie’s April 15 post on X/Twitter, we now know that The Edge of Fate is the official name, and the marketing train has officially left the station.

So far, it’s unclear whether The Edge of Fate is simply the public-facing title for Apollo, or if it refers to the entire two-part Frontiers saga.

Teasers, Trailers, and What We’ve Seen

  • April 22: Bungie dropped a short teaser showing what’s likely a Guardian ship traveling through a wormhole toward an unknown planet. Gameplay details are scarce, but the visuals hint at new frontiers — possibly even outside our solar system.
  • May 2 & 5 Teasers: Both featured mysterious figures (likely the Emissary or someone similar) walking across an alien landscape. These cryptic snippets have heavy visual cues tied to The Nine, Destiny’s most enigmatic faction.

The Nine Might Be Central to Edge of Fate

The Nine have been part of Destiny lore since the original game — think Xur, Trials of the Nine, and the Emissary. Their base of operations, “Unknown Space,” has been teased for years, but never fully explored.

The logo for The Edge of Fate includes iconography directly tied to the Nine, and with Episode Heresy’s Rite of the Nine event launching the same day as the reveal, there’s a good chance we’re finally getting a deep dive into this cryptic group.

Release Date? Not Yet

Bungie hasn’t confirmed a launch date for The Edge of Fate, but here’s what we do know:

  • Episode Heresy ends on July 15, 2025
  • Traditionally, Bungie transitions from one release into another without downtime

So, the earliest realistic window for The Edge of Fate would be mid-to-late summer 2025.

Quick Recap: What We Know About The Edge of Fate

  • Official reveal: May 6, 2025
  • Time: 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST / 5 PM BST
  • Likely connected to: The Nine and Episode Heresy
  • Teasers: Confirm alien locations, possibly new planets
  • Codename connection: Likely tied to Frontiers / Apollo
  • Release date: TBD, but expected after July 15

With Bungie gearing up for a pivotal new chapter in Destiny 2, The Edge of Fate could be the next major leap forward — especially if it finally pulls back the curtain on the Nine and the cosmos beyond our known system.
