Looking to level up Athletics in Oblivion Remastered? Here’s where to find every Athletic skill book hidden across Cyrodiil for a quick XP boost.

Where To Find Every Athletic Skill Book in Oblivion Remastered

Leveling up your skills in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is pretty easy in the beginning. But once you start reaching higher levels, that skill bar moves slower than a mudcrab in winter. One of the best ways to get ahead? Skill books. These rare reads give you instant XP for a specific skill—no grinding required.

You can buy some of them in bookstores, but others are scattered across the world, tucked away in castles, homes, and other sneaky spots. If you’re hunting for Athletic skill books, here’s exactly where to find each one.

📍 Athletic Skill Book Location – Anvil

Start off in the city of Anvil and make your way to Castle Anvil.

  • Cross the bridge and head into the castle. You’ll need to break into the private chambers, which requires picking an Easy lock (or using any sneaky workaround).
  • Once inside, stay sharp—guards patrol the area. A guard is posted immediately to the left, so stealth is a must.
  • Stick to the right hallway and follow it around until you find a Hard lock. Unlock that door to access Baeralorn’s room.
  • On the desk, you’ll find The Red Kitchen Reader. Read it to get your Athletics boost.

📍 Athletic Skill Book Location – Skingrad

Next, head to Skingrad and enter the city via the West Gate.

  • Walk down the main road, take a right, and you’ll come to a T-intersection.
  • Look for Uuras the Shepherd’s house—hover your cursor over doors until you find the right one.
  • The door has an Easy lock, and once you’re inside, make sure Uuras is either asleep or not home.
  • Sneak upstairs to the attic and find A Dance in Fire, Vol. 3 on a shelf. Read it for another Athletics bump.

📍 Athletic Skill Book Location – Bruma

This one takes a little more effort.

  • Start at the Bruma North Gate and follow the road north to Cloud Ruler Temple.
  • You’ll need a key to get in—there’s no lockpicking this one. Complete the Weynon Priory questline to gain access.
  • Heads up: this area can be buggy, especially if you fast travel. It’s better to travel on foot or horseback with the Blades.
  • Inside the Great Hall, look for a copy of Beggar on a shelf. Reading it boosts your Athletics skill.

📍 Athletic Skill Book Location – Imperial City

Last stop: the Arena District in the Imperial City.

  • Fast travel to the Arena gate, then head inside and take a left into the Arena Bloodworks.
  • Inside, go toward the area where gladiators rest. Look for a red cupboard near the left wall.
  • The cupboard isn’t owned, but taking from it is still stealing—make sure no one’s watching.
  • Inside, you’ll find The Ransom of Zarek. Give it a read and enjoy your final Athletics XP boost.

Why Bother With Athletics?

Reading all of these skill books gives your Athletics skill a nice jump without spending a single Septim or visiting a trainer. And once you max out Athletics, you’ll be able to sprint without draining Fatigue—which is a massive bonus, especially during long dungeon crawls or intense fights.
