The Assault class in Battlefield 6 is built for aggressive, objective-focused gameplay—and its challenge system rewards players who embrace that playstyle. Completing these challenges unlocks some genuinely useful gadgets and exclusive cosmetics that you can’t get anywhere else.
Here’s the catch: you can’t even start these challenges until you hit Rank 20, and some requirements demand specific playstyles that might push you outside your comfort zone. But the rewards are worth it, especially if you main Assault.
Let me walk you through every Assault and Assault Expert challenge, plus the most efficient strategies to complete them without grinding for weeks.
Battlefield 6 splits Assault challenges into two tiers:
Standard Assault Challenges (3 total) – Unlock at Rank 20 and focus on basic Assault gadget mastery
Assault Expert Challenges (3 total) – Only accessible after completing all standard challenges; these require advanced skill and dedication
This gated progression means you’re looking at completing six total challenges for full Assault mastery. The good news? Each challenge teaches you something valuable about playing the class effectively.
Important: All Assault challenges are locked until you reach Rank 20 in multiplayer.
Any progress you make before hitting Rank 20 doesn’t count—kills with the Adrenaline Injector, objective score, none of it carries over. This is intentional design to ensure you have enough game knowledge before tackling class-specific challenges.
My advice: Use those first 20 ranks to experiment with different classes and weapons. By the time you unlock these challenges, you’ll be a better player overall, which makes completion significantly faster. Check out our complete weapons guide to find your optimal loadout while ranking up.
Your first challenge introduces you to the Assault class’s signature gadget and basic scoring requirements.
Requirements:
Reward: QLink 6 Deploy Beacon
Breaking it down: The 10,000 score requirement happens naturally as you play objective modes. Focus primarily on getting those 30 kills with the Adrenaline Injector equipped—this requirement is more specific and takes longer.
Adrenaline Injector usage: This gadget is unlocked by default for Assault players. It provides a temporary health and speed boost, perfect for aggressive pushes onto objectives. Pop it before engaging multiple enemies or when pushing contested points.
Efficient strategy: Play Conquest or Breakthrough on medium-sized maps. These modes provide consistent objective scoring while offering plenty of infantry combat opportunities for your kills. The beauty of this challenge is that you’re simultaneously working toward both requirements.
This challenge introduces team-based requirements that depend partly on your squadmates’ behavior.
Requirements:
Reward: Frontliner Training Path
The Deploy Beacon grind: This is where things get tricky. You need squadmates to actually use your beacon, which isn’t entirely under your control. Place beacons in strategic locations near objectives—spots that give your squad advantageous spawns but aren’t immediately in the line of fire.
Pro tip for beacon placement:
Getting concussed kills: Concussion grenades temporarily disorient enemies, making them easier targets. Toss concussion grenades into rooms or objectives before pushing, then capitalize on stunned enemies. Assists count too, so don’t worry if teammates finish your targets.
Time-saver: Play with friends or communicate with your squad. Letting them know you have a well-placed beacon dramatically speeds up this requirement.
The final standard challenge emphasizes grenade usage and aggressive play.
Requirements:
Rewards:
Grenade damage strategy: This is straightforward but requires consistent grenade usage. Every time you approach a contested objective, cluster of enemies, or camping spot, throw grenades first.
Maximizing grenade damage:
Best game modes: Breakthrough and Rush funnel enemies into predictable paths, making grenade damage much easier to accumulate. Conquest works too, but the spread-out nature of the mode makes finding grenade opportunities less consistent.

Once you’ve completed all three standard challenges, the Expert tier unlocks with significantly tougher requirements.
Requirements:
Reward: SS26 Incendiary-Round Shotgun Gadget
Contesting objectives explained: You must physically be on or near the objective capture point when getting kills. Running around the map won’t count—you need to be in the thick of objective fights.
Optimal approach: Play Domination or Hardpoint modes on smaller maps. These modes force constant objective fighting, ensuring nearly every kill qualifies. King of the Hill is another excellent option if available.
Why the 40,000 score takes time: This is roughly four times the first challenge’s score requirement. Expect to invest 10-15 hours of focused Assault gameplay to complete this challenge, assuming you’re playing efficiently.
Weapon selection matters: Since you need kills while contesting objectives, choose weapons that excel in close-to-medium range. SMGs and carbines work excellently here. Our Danger Close Challenges guide can help you unlock top-tier carbines that synergize perfectly with objective play.
This challenge requires using the gadget you just unlocked in Expert Challenge 1.
Requirements:
Reward: Push Forward Player Card Background
Incendiary-Round Shotgun explained: This gadget fires incendiary ammunition that deals damage over time. It’s particularly effective against grouped enemies and in enclosed spaces where enemies can’t easily escape the fire damage.
Usage tips:
Realistic expectations: 5,000 damage sounds like a lot, but remember this is cumulative damage including the burn effect. Each successful hit might deal 100-200+ damage over time. You’re looking at 25-50 effective hits, which takes several hours of dedicated usage.
Best modes: Breakthrough attacking, where enemies cluster on defensive objectives, maximizes your incendiary damage per shot.
The ultimate Assault challenge combines multiple difficult requirements in a single challenge.
Requirements:
Rewards:
The Grenade Launcher grind: 100 kills or assists is a serious commitment. Grenade Launchers are most effective against clustered infantry and light vehicles. Target objectives, chokepoints, and anywhere enemies group up.
Smart grenade launcher usage:
The 30 Close Quarter kills challenge: This is the trickiest requirement because it must happen in a SINGLE round. Close Quarter kills are defined as eliminations at very short range—typically within a few meters.
Strategies for 30 CQ kills in one round:
Game-changing tip: If you’re in an open weapon playlist, you’re not restricted to Assault-specific weapons for these kills. Equip whatever close-range weapon you’re most comfortable with. This makes the 30-kill requirement much more manageable.
Different challenges benefit from different modes. Here’s a quick reference:
For Standard Challenges:
For Expert Challenges:
Avoid vehicle-heavy modes like Conquest on massive maps—you want infantry-focused combat for faster challenge completion.
Starting before Rank 20: I see this constantly. Players grind Assault gameplay before unlocking the challenges, then realize none of it counted. Wait until Rank 20.
Poor beacon placement: Putting Deploy Beacons in terrible locations means squadmates won’t use them, stalling Challenge 2 indefinitely. Think strategically about spawn positioning.
Not communicating with squad: The beacon requirement specifically needs squad cooperation. A simple “good beacon behind the objective” message can double your beacon usage rate.
Wrong game modes: Trying to complete objective kills in Conquest on massive maps is inefficient. Match your game mode to your challenge requirements.
Attempting 30 CQ kills casually: The single-round requirement for 30 Close Quarter kills means you need a focused, extended match. Don’t try this in quick modes—you’ll run out of time.
Forgetting about open weapon playlists: Some challenges don’t require Assault-specific weapons. Using your best weapons instead of forcing Assault guns can speed up completion significantly.
Let’s be honest about how long these challenges take:
Standard Assault Challenges (1-3): Expect 12-20 hours of gameplay, depending on efficiency and whether you’re coordinating with squadmates.
Assault Expert Challenges: Add another 15-25 hours minimum. Expert Challenge 3 alone might take 10+ hours if you struggle with the single-round CQ kills requirement.
Total commitment: You’re looking at 30-45 hours of dedicated Assault gameplay to achieve full mastery. This isn’t a weekend grind—it’s a serious investment that proves your Assault class expertise.
Absolutely, especially the SS26 Incendiary-Round Shotgun from Expert Challenge 1. It’s a genuinely unique gadget that adds tactical options unavailable to other classes.
The character skins from Expert Challenge 3 are exclusive and visually distinctive—you’ll immediately stand out as someone who’s mastered Assault. The Vanguard title is pure bragging rights, signaling you’ve completed one of the game’s most demanding challenge sets.
Beyond rewards, completing these challenges makes you a significantly better Assault player. You’ll master gadget usage, learn optimal beacon placement, and develop aggressive objective play habits that translate to better overall performance.
While focusing on Assault challenges, consider working on these related progression paths:
Track your progress regularly: Check the Challenges menu after every few matches to see which requirements need more focus. This helps you adjust your playstyle mid-grind.
Play with purpose: Every match should specifically target your current challenge. Don’t just play normally and hope for progress—actively work toward requirements.
Take breaks: These challenges demand dozens of hours. Burnout will slow you down more than anything. Play other classes occasionally to maintain freshness.
Optimize your loadout: Match your weapons and equipment to your current challenge. If you’re working on objective kills, equip close-range weapons and defensive equipment.
Watch high-level Assault players: Check streams or YouTube for Assault gameplay to learn positioning, gadget timing, and aggressive tactics that speed up completion.
