So you’re storming through Fortress Indomita, hyped to take down Idolator Sol, and then… you miss the elevator. Or maybe you fell off. Or jumped at the wrong time. Whatever happened, you’re now standing at the bottom watching that elevator rise without you, wondering if you just broke your mission.
Take a breath—you didn’t ruin anything. This happens to more players than you’d think, and there’s a simple fix that doesn’t require restarting the entire mission. Let’s get you back up there so you can finish what you started.
Once you’re inside Fortress Indomita during the Rush the Gate mission, your objective becomes crystal clear: kill Idolator Sol. The path leads you to a room with an elevator chamber that takes you up to the boss arena.
Here’s the step-by-step solution:
1. Look to Your Left From the elevator room, turn left and scan the area carefully.
2. Find the Platform with the Lever You’ll spot a small platform that has a lever/switch on it. It’s not immediately obvious, which is probably why you missed it while frantically looking for a way up.
3. Pull the Lever Interact with the lever to call the elevator back down. Simple as that.
4. If the Lever Won’t Work Sometimes the lever becomes unresponsive (thanks, game bugs). If that happens:
Pro tip: Before getting on the elevator the second time, make absolutely sure you’re positioned properly. Once it starts moving, commit to staying on it—don’t try any fancy parkour moves.

There’s actually another elevator that causes problems earlier in the mission, right before you enter the fortress at Idolator’s Noose. If you’re stuck here instead, you’ve got two solutions:
If the elevator is stuck at the top:
Honestly? This is the better option:
1. Locate the Stairs Find the staircase directly opposite from where the switch is located.
2. Double Jump Up Start climbing the stairs and use your double jump ability.
3. Grapple to the Top Use your grapple ability to latch onto points above you. You can chain grapples all the way to the top platform, completely bypassing the elevator.
This method is actually faster than waiting for the elevator and gives you a nice vertical movement practice session. Plus, you feel like a parkour master.
Let’s be real—sometimes the game’s geometry and movement mechanics conspire against you. Here’s what usually causes these elevator mishaps:
Common culprits:
The game doesn’t always communicate elevator boundaries clearly, especially during combat sequences. You’re not alone if this happened to you.

Since you’re here, might as well learn how to avoid this next time:
✅ Clear enemies first – Don’t rush onto elevators while under fire ✅ Stand in the center – Edges are risky, especially with movement physics ✅ Stop moving once on – Seriously, just stand still once you’re aboard ✅ Don’t jump unnecessarily – The elevator will take you up; you don’t need to help ✅ Watch for visual cues – Most elevators have clear platform boundaries
In extremely rare cases, the mission might actually glitch beyond these fixes. If you’ve tried:
And you’re still stuck, then you might need to:
If even that fails (which would be incredibly unusual), you might need to restart the Rush the Gate mission from your mission log. But honestly, the lever solution works 99% of the time.
Once you’ve solved the elevator situation and made it to the top, you’re moments away from one of Borderlands 4‘s most mechanically interesting boss fights. Idolator Sol isn’t a pushover—he requires actual strategy and understanding of his armor-stripping mechanics.

Missing elevators in Rush the Gate is practically a rite of passage at this point. The good news? You now know exactly how to fix it, whether it’s the main elevator inside the fortress or the earlier one at Idolator’s Noose.
The lever solution is quick, the parkour route is even quicker, and worst case scenario, a simple reload fixes any glitches. No mission restarts needed, no progress lost—just a minor detour on your way to claiming those legendary drops from Idolator Sol.
Now get back up there and show that Timekeeper general what happens when you keep a Vault Hunter waiting.
