Capcom Wants to Bring Even More Classic Fighting Games to Modern Consoles!
Get ready, fighting game fans—Capcom might not be done reviving classic fighters just yet! 🥊🎮
With Capcom Fighting Collection 2 dropping on May 16, Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto has hinted that he wants even more legendary Capcom fighting games to make their way to modern consoles. Could we finally get JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Heritage of the Future or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom back? 🤔💭
💾 Capcom’s Recent Fighting Game Comebacks
Capcom has been working hard to bring back its legendary 2D fighters—and it all started in 2022 with:
✅ Capcom Fighting Collection (2022) – Brought 10 classic games, including all five Darkstalkers titles, to PS4 & Xbox One 🦇🎮
✅ Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics – Finally let players replay every Marvel vs. Capcom entry with online multiplayer! 🔥
✅ Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (Releasing May 16, 2025) – Features SNK vs. Capcom games & classic 3D brawlers like Powerstone! 💥
Capcom is listening to fans, and Matsumoto hopes to bring even MORE old-school fighting games back to life! 🎉

🎙️ Capcom’s Shuhei Matsumoto Wants More Retro Fighters!
Speaking to Inside Games (via VGC), Matsumoto said there are many classic Capcom fighters that still aren’t playable on modern consoles. 😢
This includes:
- 🌀 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Heritage of the Future (1999) – A fan-favorite fighter based on the iconic anime!
- 🤖 Tatsunoko vs. Capcom – A beloved crossover game that might be tricky to rerelease due to licensing issues.
- 🎮 And possibly more obscure but legendary Capcom fighters we haven’t seen in years!

🚀 Xbox Almost Missed Out on Marvel vs. Capcom Collection
Interestingly, Xbox nearly didn’t get last year’s Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, but Capcom quietly dropped it on Xbox One later. 😲
Thankfully, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will be on Xbox at launch, after some technical talks with Microsoft. 🏆💚
🥋 What’s Next for Capcom Fighting Games?
While Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is bringing back some heavy hitters, there are still tons of classic Capcom fighters locked away from modern players.
Matsumoto wants to change that, but licensing issues could make some titles harder to bring back (looking at you, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 👀). Still, his passion for Capcom’s fighting game legacy means we could see even more old-school gems return! 🔥
