Unlock the fiery Cataclysm gear set in Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition by completing the Burning Trail quest. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through.
Oblivion Remastered: How to Get Armor & Weapons of Cataclysm (Burning Trail Quest)
If you’re rocking the Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition, there’s some seriously cool gear waiting for you—like the demonic-looking Cataclysm set. To get it, you’ll need to complete the Burning Trail quest, which involves pamphlets, cult infiltration, and a bit of moral flexibility.
Let’s walk through how to unlock one of the game’s most intimidating gear sets.
🔥 How to Start the Burning Trail Quest
Head to the Talos Plaza District in the Imperial City. Look under the dragon statue—there are a few barrels, and one of them has Mythic Dawn Pamphlet 1 attached. Pick it up, and the Burning Trail quest will activate in your log.
Your next job? Find three more pamphlets scattered around Cyrodiil.

📍 Where to Find All Four Mythic Dawn Pamphlets
- Pamphlet 1: Talos Plaza District, Imperial City (under the dragon statue)
- Pamphlet 2: Hircine’s Shrine, south of the Imperial City. Look behind the tree in the direction the wolf statue is staring.
- Pamphlet 3: Molag Bal’s Shrine, west of the city. Cross the boulder opposite the statue and check behind a tree.
- Pamphlet 4: Castle Bravil, by the Larsius River. Check the base of the Lucky Old Lady statue in the center.
This final note hints at someone known as the “Shy Dunmer” familiar with fire. Time to head to an inn.
🍷 Finding the Shy Dunmer
The Dunmer you’re looking for is Ranaline, found at the Lonely Suitor Lodge in Bravil. After talking to Bogrum Gro-Galash at the front, find Ranaline—usually near the entrance. If she’s not there, wait or wander nearby.
Use Speechcraft to gain her trust. Once she opens up, she’ll tell you about a cult gathering in Mingo Cave, and you’ll need to wear cult robes to attend.

🕯️ Infiltrating the Cult in Mingo Cave
Suit up in cult robes and head to Mingo Cave. If you’re wearing the outfit, the cultists won’t attack. Make your way to Mehrunes’ Harbinger, who’ll ask you to light a pyre beneath a prisoner. You can either:
- Go through with the ritual, or
- Refuse and fight your way out
Either way, Mehrunes’ Harbinger will respect your choice and reward you with a spell to summon her anytime.
🧙 Summoning Mehrunes’ Harbinger & Claiming Cataclysm Gear
Once outside, use the Summon Mehrunes’ Harbinger spell. She’ll appear and ask what equipment you want.
You can:
- Grab all weapons, or
- Pick specific ones to avoid becoming over-encumbered
You can summon her again later if you change your mind, so no stress about choosing everything at once.
