Secrets and hidden collectibles have always been a big part of Doom, and Doom: The Dark Ages continues that tradition with loads of well-hidden loot tucked across its 22 chapters. Chapter 17 might be shorter than others, but that doesn’t mean it’s light on secrets. There’s one Secret Key to find—and one hidden door it unlocks. Here’s where to find it and what’s behind that purple-glowing gate.

🔑 Where to Find the Chapter 17 Secret Key

You won’t stumble across this one early, so don’t waste time scouring every inch right from the start. Here’s what to do:

1. Progress through the level until you hear the Witch say, “Prepare the sacrifice.”
   
2. At that point, you’ll be facing the temple—turn to the left and look for the wreckage of an old ship.
   
3. Head toward the ship, grab the nearby gold, and then walk up to the door on the shipwreck.
   
4. Wait a few seconds—the door will automatically open.
   
5. Inside, you’ll find the Secret Key.
   
6. Be ready: a group of demons will spawn once you pick it up.
   

🚪 Where to Use the Secret Key in Chapter 17

Thankfully, the Secret Door isn’t far:

1. Before heading into the temple, look around the same shipwreck area where you got the key.
   
2. You’ll spot a Sentinel Shrine with a gate that glows purple—this is your target.
   
3. Walk up to the gate; the Secret Key unlocks it automatically.
   
4. Inside, you’ll find a Ruby—no extra puzzles or hoops to jump through this time.
