Fast travel in Donkey Kong Bananza isn’t unlocked right away, and there’s no in-game tutorial to explain it. Here’s how to unlock it, use it, and jump between layers with ease.

Wait… There’s Fast Travel in This Game?

Yep. And no, Donkey Kong Bananza doesn’t exactly go out of its way to tell you how it works. Classic Nintendo move, huh?

But don’t sweat it — if you’re tired of backtracking through three sublayers just to grab a collectible you missed, this guide will get you zoomin’ around like a banana-fueled speedrunner.

Let’s break down how fast travel (aka Teeleporting) works, when it unlocks, and how to yeet yourself across layers like a true jungle king.

How to Unlock Fast Travel in DK Bananza

Here is your how to guide to Unlock fast travel in Donkey Kong Bananza

Total Time: 2 minutes

Step 1: Beat Peekabruiser

Your first real step to unlocking Teeleporting is to knock the stuffing out of Peekabruiser, one of the early bosses. You’ll know it when you see it — big, annoying, and full of attitude.

Step 2: Talk to the Blue Eel

After Peekabruiser’s done being dramatic, you’ll notice a suspicious-looking blue eel chilling near the sinkhole to the Hilltop Layer. Go chat it up.
That eel’s your new best friend. It unlocks the Teeleport system, aka your golden ticket to instant travel.

How to Use Fast Travel (Within the Same Layer)

Once fast travel is unlocked:

  1. Press the button to open your map.
  2. Use the left/right D-pad to scroll through available Teeleport locations.
  3. Found the one you want? Smash that A button to Teeleport DK like a jungle wizard.

⚠️ Heads-up: You can only fast travel to locations you’ve already visited. So explore first, warp later.

How to Fast Travel Between Layers

This part’s a little different. You can’t just flip through the map and jump between major layers like you’re changing playlists.

Instead:

Step 1: Find a Warp Gong

Each layer has a Warp Gong — big, round, and smackable.

Step 2: Punch It

No, seriously. Punch the gong. That’s how DK says “excuse me” in this world.

Step 3: Mother Eel Arrives

The big mama eel will swoop in like a mythical Uber and offer you a ride to any layer you’ve already unlocked.

Select your destination and press A to bounce outta there.

Bonus Tip: Once you’ve used a Warp Gong in a layer at least once, you can fast travel directly to it via the map. Handy for layer-hopping without the long trek.

Pro Tips for Speedy Apes

  • Open up the map early: Visit every Teeleport point you see — it’ll save your bananas later.
  • Use the map to plan: Know where the collectibles are? Plot your route with Teeleports like a strat god.
  • Use gongs even if you don’t need them: It unlocks fast travel later. Future you will thank you.
  • The eel is slow but reliable: Be patient with Mother Eel’s cutscene the first few times. It’s part of the DK charm (and unskippable lol).

Travel Like a Kong, Not a Chump

Once you’ve got fast travel down, Donkey Kong Bananza opens up big time. No more retracing your steps like a lost ape — now you’re zipping through sublayers like a pro, backtracking for gems, solving side puzzles, and collecting bananas like it’s your job (because… it kinda is).

Now go forth, Teeleport, and conquer. And if the map confuses you, remember: when in doubt, punch something. It’s the Donkey Kong way.
