Wild Zone 9 is one of those areas in Leyendas Pokémon: ZA that looks smaller than it actually is. The first time I wandered through here, I thought I’d found everything—until I realized I was missing half the Pokémon because they were hiding on rooftops I didn’t even notice had ladders.

This level 25+ zone sits in western Lumiose City and doesn’t unlock until you’ve completed Main Mission 09: Chase that Mysterious Pokémon and obtained your Mega Ring. It’s got serious verticality, lots of scaffolding, and enough nooks and crannies to make 100% completion genuinely tricky if you don’t know where to look.

Let me break down exactly where to find all six regular Pokémon and both Alpha spawns in this zone.

Wild Zone 9 Overview: What You’re Hunting

Screenshot of Pokemon

Total Pokémon in Wild Zone 9: 6 regular species + 2 Alpha Pokémon

The complete list:

  • Sableye (4 spawns)
  • Fletchinder (rooftop spawns)
  • Espurr (rooftop spawns, fast runners)
  • Kadabra (3 spawns) – Check our full Kadabra catching guide
  • Mawile (4 spawns, 1 from mission)
  • Carbink (multiple rooftop spawns)
  • Alpha Meowstic (not required for 100%)
  • Alpha Manectric (not required for 100%)

Good news: You don’t need to catch the Alpha Pokémon for zone completion, but they’re excellent for Seeds of Mastery farming if you’re working on Plus Move upgrades.

Wild Zone 9 is basically a construction site maze. There’s a large caged battle arena near the entrance that serves as your central landmark. From there, paths split left and right, with multiple ladders leading to interconnected rooftops.

Key landmarks to orient yourself:

  • Central battle arena (your reference point)
  • Metal scaffolding on both sides
  • Multiple ladder access points
  • Garden area behind right-side path
  • Western entrance with a lone tree

Trust me, identifying these landmarks first will save you 15 minutes of wandering around confused. Use viajes rápidos if you need to reset the zone or quickly return after leaving.

Sableye Location (4 Spawns)

Sableye in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Sableye is probably the easiest to find, which is nice because you need to grab four of them.

Where to find them:

  1. Pass the large caged battle arena at the entrance
  2. Look for metal scaffolding on both the left and right paths
  3. Camino correcto: Two Sableye are behind breakable boulders blocking the way (you’ll need to destroy these first)
  4. Camino de la izquierda: The remaining two Sableye hang out on this side

The ones behind the boulders are easy to miss if you’re just rushing through. Make sure you’re breaking environmental obstacles—this is a recurring theme in Wild Zone 9.

Fletchinder Location (Rooftop Spawns)

Fletchinder location in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Now we start with the vertical exploration. Fletchinder is exclusively found on rooftops, which means ladder time.

How to reach them:

  1. Stand directly in front of the battle arena
  2. Look for a ladder you can climb (it’s pretty obvious once you’re facing the arena)
  3. Climb to the rooftops
  4. Multiple Fletchinder spawn at the top

These are straightforward catches once you’re up there. Fletchinder doesn’t run like some other Pokémon in this zone, so take your time lining up your throws.

Espurr Location (Rooftop Spawns – Fast!)

Espurr Location in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Here’s where things get annoying. Espurr shares the same rooftop area as Fletchinder, but it has a problem: it runs away FAST.

Estrategia de captura:

  1. Use the same ladder as the Fletchinder location
  2. Be ready with Poké Balls the moment you reach the top
  3. Target Espurr immediately—don’t stop to reorganize inventory or check other Pokémon
  4. Stealth approach works well if you have it unlocked
  5. Back strikes give better catch rates if you can sneak behind them

Espurr’s flee response is hair-trigger sensitive. The second it spots you, it’s gone. I recommend clearing other Pokémon from the rooftop first, then resetting the zone to spawn fresh Espurr that you can approach carefully.

Kadabra Location (3 Spawns)

Kadabra location in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Kadabra has a split spawn pattern—one on the ground level, two on rooftops. These guys are notoriously difficult to catch even in regular Pokémon games, and Z-A is no exception.

Spawn locations:

First Kadabra (Ground level):

  1. Take the right-side path past the battle arena
  2. Get past the two Sableye guarding the path
  3. Look for a small garden area behind them
  4. Single Kadabra spawns here

Second & Third Kadabra (Rooftops):

  1. From the first Kadabra’s garden location, look for a ladder directly to the right
  2. Climb the ladder to access the rooftops
  3. Two Kadabra spawn up here

Consejo profesional: Kadabra can teleport away if startled, similar to Espurr. Use stealth approaches and consider using Ultra Balls if you’re struggling with catch rates. Need more help? Check our detailed Guía de Abra, Kadabra y Alakazam..

Remember, Kadabra is also a trade evolution Pokémon, so you’ll need to trade it to get Alakazam if you’re completing your Pokédex.

Mawile Location (4 Spawns Total, 1 From Mission)

Mawile Location in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Mawile is interesting because you can get one guaranteed from the story, but there are still three more to find in the wild.

Wild Mawile locations:

First Mawile (Western entrance):

  1. Head to Wild Zone 9’s western entrance
  2. Look for a tree (it’s the only one in that area)
  3. Mawile spawns underneath it

Remaining Three Mawile (Rooftop):

  1. Go to the bottom left corner of the zone
  2. Find the ladder shown in the area (it’s near that lone tree location)
  3. Subir a la azotea
  4. Three Mawile spawn up here

Story Mawile: You’ll automatically receive a Mawile by completing Main Mission 21, so factor that into your Pokédex planning.

Mawile is a Steel/Fairy-type with Mega Evolution potential, making it worth keeping around even after you’ve checked it off your completion list.

Carbink Location (Multiple Rooftop Spawns)

Carbink in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Carbink is exclusively a rooftop dweller in Wild Zone 9, with spawns scattered across multiple buildings. This is where that verticality I mentioned becomes genuinely important.

All Carbink spawn points:

First group (Near outdoor tables):

  1. Find the rooftop section with outdoor picnic tables
  2. Look for the two Kadabra spawns (same area)
  3. Several Carbink spawn right next to them

Second spawn (Middle building):

  1. Look for the lone building in the middle of the zone
  2. One Carbink spawns on top
  3. Accessible via the same rooftop network

Third group (Far left building):

  1. Head to the leftmost building in the zone
  2. Multiple Carbink spawn here
  3. This is also near the Alpha Manectric spawn

Because Carbink spawns across multiple separate rooftops, I recommend systematically checking each rooftop section rather than randomly climbing ladders hoping to find them all.

Alpha Meowstic Location (Optional)

Alpha Meowstic in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Alpha Meowstic isn’t required for 100% completion, but it’s a solid catch for your team and drops Seeds of Mastery for Plus Move upgrades.

Where to find Alpha Meowstic:

  1. Head to the central battle arena
  2. Use the ladder directly in front of it (same one for Fletchinder and Espurr)
  3. Alpha Meowstic spawns on the rooftop in the middle of the zone

Battle tips:

  • Meowstic is a Psychic-type, so Dark, Ghost, and Bug moves are super effective
  • Pokémon Alfa hit harder and have better stats
  • Stock up on healing items before engaging
  • Consider using status moves like those covered in our guía de condiciones de estado

Meowstic can be tricky because of its special attack power. Don’t underestimate it just because it looks cute.

Alpha Manectric Location (Optional)

Alpha Manectric Location in Wild Zone 9 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Alpha Manectric is the second optional Alpha in this zone, and it’s actually one of the better Electric-types you can get at this point in the game.

Where to find Alpha Manectric:

  1. Head to the leftmost side of Wild Zone 9
  2. Look for the building on the far left (same area as some Carbink spawns)
  3. Find the ladder next to the lone Mawile spawn under the tree
  4. Alpha Manectric is on that rooftop

Potencial de megaevolución: Manectric has Mega Evolution available! You can buy Manectite at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange if you want to use Mega Manectric. Check our Lista de niveles de megaevolución to see how Mega Manectric ranks.

Battle strategy:

  • Electric-type, so Ground moves work great
  • Fast and hits hard with Electric moves
  • Consider paralysis immunity when building your counter-team
  • Mega Manectric is genuinely strong if you invest in it

100% Completion Checklist

To fully complete Wild Zone 9, make sure you’ve caught or registered:

✓ Sableye (all 4 spawns)
✓ Fletchinder (rooftop spawns)
✓ Espurr (rooftop spawns – be fast!)
✓ Kadabra (1 ground, 2 rooftop)
✓ Mawile (1 tree, 3 rooftop, +1 from mission)
✓ Carbink (multiple rooftop locations)

Recordar: Alpha Meowstic and Alpha Manectric are NOT required for completion, but they’re worth catching for team-building and Seeds of Mastery.

Tips for Efficient Wild Zone 9 Exploration

Bring the right tools:

  • Stock up on Poké Balls (Ultra Balls help with Kadabra and Alphas)
  • Healing items for Alpha battles
  • Stealth consumables if you have them (helps with Espurr)

Systematic approach:

  1. Clear ground-level spawns first
  2. Then systematically climb each ladder
  3. Mark off Pokémon as you catch them
  4. Use the battle arena as your central reference point

Don’t forget evolution chains: Several Pokémon here have special evolution requirements. Check our special evolutions guide for details on:

  • Kadabra → Alakazam (trade evolution)
  • Espurr → Meowstic (level 25)
  • Fletchinder → Talonflame (level 35)

My Experience With Wild Zone 9

Honestly, this zone frustrated me at first because I kept missing the rooftop spawns. I’d walk through thinking “that’s it?” and then realize I was at 70% completion. The verticality is cool conceptually, but it makes thorough exploration less intuitive than flat zones.

That said, once I understood the ladder system and started using the battle arena as my landmark, it became much easier. The Alpha spawns are solid additions to any team, especially Manectric if you’re building an Electric-type roster.

The Espurr catches were the worst part—those things bolt the second you breathe in their direction. Save yourself some frustration and use stealth from the start.

Reflexiones finales

Wild Zone 9 isn’t the biggest zone in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but it’s definitely one where you need to pay attention to vertical space. Check every ladder, explore every rooftop, and be ready with Poké Balls before you startle those Espurr.

The zone’s level 25+ requirement means you should have a decent team by now, making the Alpha battles manageable if you want those Seeds of Mastery. And if you’re working on Mega Evolution strategies, Manectric is worth the effort.

Now get up those ladders and complete that Pokédex!
