Following a significant PSN outage some PlayStation players want refunds
Users of the PlayStation Network (PSN) are irate following a worldwide outage that began on February 7, 2025. Hours have passed since players lost access to online services, and PlayStation’s response has only made matters worse.
PSN Goes Down, PlayStation’s Response Falls Short
PSN stopped working around 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET / 12 AM GMT, affecting all online features. The cause of the outage is still unknown, but PlayStation posted a short message on their AskPlayStation Twitter/X account:
“We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN. For more details: status.playstation.com.”
Despite this the official status checker showed all services offline, making the situation more frustrating for players.

Players Angry Over Poor Communication
Many gamers are upset that PlayStation took over 90 minutes to acknowledge the issue and feel the response was too vague.
“Unacceptable lack of communication. We pay for this service and plan our gaming time. You should at least tell us what’s going on. Refunds would be fair,” one user wrote.
Another player’s post suggesting a free year of PlayStation Plus as compensation received over 14,000 likes.
Some even compared the outage to the 2011 PSN downtime which lasted 23 days.
Offline Games Also Affected
The outage hasn’t just impacted online gaming—many players can’t access their offline games either.
“It’s been 5 hours and I can’t even play my offline games because my PS5 keeps checking if I own them instead of just saving that info. This shouldn’t be happening,” one player shared.
Still No Update From PlayStation
At the time of writing PlayStation has yet to provide any further updates, and the network remains down after more than 10 hours.
The last major PSN outage happened on September 30, 2024, but this time, players are demanding refunds and better communication from PlayStation.
For now, frustrated players are still waiting—hoping for answers and a quick fix.
