Fortnite Disables Wall Kicks and Roll Landings in Official Modes Amid Galactic Battle Season

Epic Games removes Wall Kicks and Roll Landings from Fortnite’s official modes during its Star Wars-themed Galactic Battle season. Here’s what players need to know.
Fortnite Removes Wall Kicks and Roll Landings in Official Modes During Galactic Battle Season
Fortnite’s Galactic Battle mini-season is in full swing, bringing back lightsabers, adding aerial dogfights in X-Wings and TIE Fighters, and featuring character skins like Mace Windu, Darth Jar Jar, and more. But in the middle of all the Star Wars chaos, Epic Games has made a big — and unexpected — change to how players move in-game.
As of a recent announcement on Twitter, Wall Kicks and Roll Landings have been disabled in all official Fortnite modes created by Epic. These advanced movement mechanics, which were introduced back in Chapter 6 Season 1, added new layers to mobility and parkour. But for now, they’re gone — at least in the main game modes.
Why Were They Removed?
Epic didn’t go into heavy detail, but the decision seems to be about balancing. Wall Kicks and Roll Landings allowed for quicker traversal and more agile play, which could throw off combat balance in certain scenarios — especially when paired with the game’s no-build modes.
Still, the removal caught a lot of players by surprise. While some celebrated the change as a move toward cleaner gameplay, others were disappointed, especially those who enjoyed the extra movement options in Zero Build mode. Many argued that those features actually made Zero Build feel more complete.
Creative Mode Remains Unaffected
Good news for map creators: Wall Kicks and Roll Landings are still enabled in Creative modes, so players who’ve built maps around those mechanics don’t have to make any changes — at least for now. Epic clarified that these movement features will remain available in custom experiences.
Community Reaction: Mixed, But Hopeful
Some players feel Epic acted too quickly, especially since these were fresh features. On the flip side, many agree with Epic’s measured approach to experimenting with movement systems, and the studio has promised to apply what it learned here to future updates.
That said, there’s another issue bugging the community — the continued absence of lightsaber pickaxes. Despite lightsabers being back as weapons in Galactic Battle, fans have been begging for years to be able to wield one as a pickaxe. This season seemed like the perfect opportunity, but it still hasn’t happened.
