Fortnite is Shutting Down OG Ranked Zero Build Servers – Here’s What You Need to Know
Fortnite fans, we’ve got some big news—Epic Games is shutting down OG Ranked Zero Build servers, and it’s happening soon. The shutdown will begin on March 4, starting with multiple servers, and eventually wrapping up completely.
This comes just after the launch of Chapter 6, Season 2 on February 21, which introduced fresh locations and a brand-new loot pool. While Fortnite as a whole is still thriving, it looks like some smaller game modes aren’t doing as well.

What’s Happening to Fortnite OG Ranked Zero Build?
Fortnite OG Season 2 arrived on January 31, and it’s been a huge hit. Longtime players love the nostalgia of bringing back iconic weapons like the Zapotron, while newer players get to experience classic maps for the first time.
But despite its initial success, Epic Games announced on Twitter that it’s shutting down OG Ranked Zero Build servers due to something called “matchmaking health.” Basically, it sounds like there aren’t enough players to keep the mode running smoothly.
- March 4 – Many servers will start shutting down.
- March 25 – The EU and NAC servers will remain online until the end of Fortnite OG Season 2.
- Good news – Players from other regions can switch their settings to EU or NAC servers without penalty to keep playing until the season ends.
Even with this option, many fans are still disappointed that the mode is coming to an end.

Why is Fortnite OG Ranked Zero Build Shutting Down?
When Fortnite OG first launched, it was a massive success, hitting over one million concurrent players in just a few hours! But OG Ranked Zero Build is a sub-mode within OG, meaning it had a smaller audience. That could explain why it struggled to maintain enough players to keep matchmaking fast and fair.
Some players worried this could be a bad sign for Fortnite OG as a whole, but many are still optimistic. The community has loved the nostalgic approach Epic has taken, from classic maps to the OG Item Shop, which even brought back Renegade Raider after years. The shorter seasons and remixed skins have also been a hit.
So while OG Ranked Zero Build is saying goodbye, Fortnite OG itself still looks like it has a bright future ahead!
