Curious about Hexga and the Paintress lore in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Here’s how to complete the Hexga quest, find the Rock Crystals, and decide whether to help or fight this unique Nevron.
Like everything else in Clair Obscur : Expédition 33, the NPCs are just as layered and intriguing as the main story. One of the more memorable encounters happens in the Stone Wave Cliffs, where you meet a sad, incomplete Nevron named Hexga. This melancholic rock-like creature has a request—and what you choose to do next shapes your reward and the lore you uncover.
Here’s a full walkthrough of the Hexga quest, including how to find the items it needs and what happens if you decide to challenge it in battle.
You’ll bump into Hexga naturally while progressing through Stone Wave Cliffs as part of the main quest. It looks like other Nevrons in the area but speaks in a softer, weaker tone. It describes itself as “a poor threat” and asks for help to become whole again.
Hexga’s request?
Find three shining, lustrous, glistening rocks in the nearby cavern.

After talking to Hexga and accepting the task, head into the cave right next to its location.

After helping Hexga, you’ll have the option to leave it be… or test your strength in battle.
Hexga has one particular attack that can’t be countered or dodged unless you’ve unlocked a specific dodge ability later in the game. That doesn’t mean the fight is impossible—it just gets tougher.
While Hexga’s attacks follow predictable patterns, they pack a punch if they land. If you’re under-leveled or haven’t figured out its shield timing, the fight can get brutal fast.
Hexga is one of those quiet, haunting encounters in Clair Obscur : Expédition 33 that really sticks with you. Whether you choose to help the poor Nevron ou test your mettle in battle, you’ll walk away with a worthwhile reward—either in power or in story.
