Let me be straight with you – Sister Splinter is probably going to frustrate you at first. This twisted root monster has a habit of turning its boss arena into a thorny nightmare that makes dodging feel nearly impossible. But once you understand the patterns and develop the right strategies, this fight becomes much more manageable.
Sister Splinter represents a significant step up in complexity from earlier bosses. It’s not just about learning attack patterns – you’re managing battlefield control, multiple threats, and environmental hazards all at once. The reward for victory, though, is absolutely worth it: the Poignée agrippante ability that transforms exploration throughout Pharloom.

Getting to this boss requires navigating almost the entire Shellwood area, which can be confusing if you’re not familiar with the zone’s layout. You’ll need to work through the lower layers of Shellwood until you reach the far left shaft that leads upward.
The route involves some backtracking and elevator usage, but there’s a method to it. Once you reach the large room with the Weaver statue at the top, exit right and platform through the next room to unlock the elevator shortcut above the central bench. This elevator becomes your lifeline for the boss fight runback.
From the central bench, take the elevator up, go right, and navigate through the flower-slashing section to reach the top-left area. Sister Splinter awaits at the end of this path.

Here’s something crucial: unlock that central bench in Shellwood if you haven’t already. Yes, it costs 60 Rosaries, but it’s absolutely worth it for this fight. This bench connects directly to the elevator shortcut, making your runbacks as painless as possible.
The runback route is: elevator up → exit right → navigate around the room to the two white flowers → downward slash across the flowers → continue left to the boss. Once you’ve done this a few times, it becomes automatic.
Triple Slam – The Main Threat This is Sister Splinter’s signature move and what gives most players trouble. It raises one arm briefly, then slams down in a diagonal arc, alternating between left and right three times total.

The counter seems simple: dodge opposite to the slam direction. If the right hand is active, dodge left. But here’s where it gets tricky – when the arena is filled with thorny vines, you might not have space to dodge properly.
Summon Ally – The Distraction Sister Splinter roars and retreats to the ceiling while up to two flying enemies spawn from lit-up wall spaces. These allies can fly through thorns, making them particularly annoying to deal with.

The key insight: you can actually attack Sister Splinter during the roar animation. Get 4-5 hits in before focusing on the flying enemies. Use tools and Silkspear to dispatch them quickly.
Thorn Vines – The Space Controller Sister Splinter retreats and launches thorny vines into the floor via beams that telegraph their direction. These vines take three hits to break and severely limit your movement space.

For one or two vines, just break them with your needle. For multiple vines, Silkspear becomes invaluable for clearing several at once.
Multi-Thorns – The Nightmare Mode Six beams appear across the top, then thorns launch from outside to center, creating a claustrophobic maze. As you break vines, more replace them initially.

The strategy: position yourself between two beams to avoid the initial wave, then use Silkspear to clear multiple vines instantly. If you don’t have silk, get to the center and rapidly clear the middle space by hitting thorns on both sides.
Battlefield Management is Everything This fight is as much about controlling space as it is about dealing damage. Always prioritize having enough room to dodge the triple slam. Three vine-widths of clear space should be your minimum safety zone.
Tool Usage Makes or Breaks This Fight Tools like Longpin are practically essential here. The Longpin’s arc can hit both Sister Splinter and flying enemies near the ceiling, plus it pierces through vines during Multi-Thorn attacks. If you have the ammo, spam it to clear vines quickly.
Timing Your Aggression You can actually jump up and attack Sister Splinter between each of its slam attacks if your timing is good. This adds significant damage over the course of the fight, but don’t force it if you’re not comfortable with the timing yet.
Silk Management Silkspear is incredibly useful in this fight, but you need to manage your silk carefully. Don’t waste it on single vines when your needle will do – save it for Multi-Thorn attacks and flying enemy situations.
Wave Management During Multi-Thorns Here’s something the game doesn’t explicitly tell you: during Multi-Thorn attacks, vines will eventually stop respawning after about three waves. Don’t panic if they keep coming back initially – just keep clearing them and they’ll eventually stay gone.
Positioning Psychology Sister Splinter’s slam pattern is predictable, but when you’re stressed and surrounded by thorns, it’s easy to panic-dodge in the wrong direction. Take a breath, watch which arm raises, and dodge deliberately rather than reactively.
Conservation des ressources Don’t burn all your healing items early in the fight. Sister Splinter has a lot of health, and the most dangerous moments often come in the later phases when the vine attacks become more frequent and complex.

Beating Sister Splinter doesn’t just feel good – it unlocks one of the most transformative abilities in Silksong. After the fight, head to the left of the boss arena to access the upper part of a room you’ve been through before. Navigate around the central pillar to find a Weaver statue.
Binding in front of this statue grants you the Poignée agrippante ability, which allows Hornet to grab onto vertical surfaces and perform wall jumps. This isn’t just useful – it’s game-changing for exploration.
With Cling Grip, you can:
If you’re planning to tackle more challenging areas, having solid compétences de saut mural becomes essential for advanced platforming sections.
Mistake #1: Ignoring Vine Management Many players try to fight Sister Splinter while surrounded by vines. This makes dodging nearly impossible and leads to frustrating deaths.
Mistake #2: Poor Tool Usage Not bringing appropriate tools or wasting them on easy-to-clear single vines instead of saving them for Multi-Thorn situations.
Mistake #3: Panic Dodging When stressed, it’s easy to dodge in the wrong direction during slam attacks. The brief wind-up gives you time to process which direction is safe.
Mistake #4: Neglecting the Flying Enemies Letting flying allies stay alive too long while focusing on Sister Splinter. These enemies will continue harassing you and making everything more difficult.
Sister Splinter requires several skills working in harmony. If you’re struggling with the fundamentals, practicing techniques de parade can help with timing and pattern recognition, even if you can’t parry all of Sister Splinter’s attacks.
