Heads up, Warriors of Light: if you haven’t snagged your free Fantasia yet, you’re on the clock. Once Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.3 goes live on August 5, this limited-time offer vanishes like a Lalafell in PvP.
What’s Fantasia, Anyway?
For the uninitiated, Fantasia is basically a magic do-over button. Use it and you’ll be tossed back into the character creator, free to change your race, gender, appearance—whatever you want. Normally it’ll cost you $10 on the Mog Station, but if you act fast, it’s yours for the low, low price of zero gil.
Why Is It Free Right Now?
With the launch of Dawntrail and FFXIV’s 7.2 patch, the devs rolled out a visual upgrade—think higher-res character models and improved shaders. Naturally, some characters started looking… off. To help players adjust, Square Enix tossed out free Fantasias like candy at a fan fest.
But now that the 7.3 patch is nearly here, that offer’s about to disappear into the Aether.
How to Claim Your Free Fantasia (It’s Stupid Easy)
Here’s how to get yours before the 7.3 curtain drops:
Step-by-step:
- Teleport to Old Gridania.
- Head to (X:10.7 Y:6.4) — near Apkallu Falls.
- Look for the Wandering Moogle NPC (adorable, as always).
- Talk to the Moogle. If you haven’t claimed the Fantasia yet, it’ll hand it over.
Pro tip: Use the aetheryte at Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre or Lancer’s Guild—both are close by.
You don’t have to use it immediately. Once it’s in your inventory, you can hold onto it until inspiration strikes (or you realize your bunboi would look cooler as a Highlander).
What Happens After August 4?
After the 24-hour maintenance for patch 7.3 begins, the Fantasia freebie deal ends. There’s no official word on whether Square Enix will offer another one soon. So if you:
- Just started playing
- Hate your current look
- Or just wanna finally see what being a Viera is like
…this is your chance.
Also, while the new patch includes things like more hats for Hrothgar and Viera (finally), there’s no major appearance update planned. So don’t expect another Fantasia handout unless they drop another glow-up patch.
