Will you stand with Galahad and honor Kamelot, or side with One-Eye and uncover Arthur’s dark legacy? This guide breaks down both paths in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon’s Shadows of the Horns quest.

The Shadows of the Horns Quest Guide (with Spoilers)

Some choices in Tainted Grail are easy—like looting yet another suspicious chest. Others? Not so much.

In the Shadows of the Horns quest, you’re handed a dilemma with kingdom-shaking consequences: Kill Galahad, a Knight of the Round Table—or betray the keepers and side with him instead.

Let’s break down both paths so you can decide how you want to steer your fate. Also read What to Do With the Questing Beast Egg.

⚔️ Where to Find Galahad

Once Breandan sends you on your deadly mission, head northwest of Archspire to the Abandoned Stronghold. When the guard stops you, flash your fancy pin and say:

“You see this pin? I don’t have to tell you anything. Take me to Galahad.”

Smooth talk your way through, and you’ll find Galahad chilling in a chair, ready for a chat.

🎭 The Critical Dialogue Choices

Once you’re inside, your words can shape the entire outcome. Here’s the breakdown:

  • If you say:

“The Captain of the Horns of the South asked me to kill you. He allied himself with One-Eye.”
    and then
“But I don’t want to kill you.”

Galahad will propose teaming up to take down the Dal Riata together. From there, you can:
    • Join him: “Let’s go.”
    • Or betray him after all: “I think you deserve to die.”
  • If you say:

    “I’m here to kill you,”
or admit to robbing Caradoc’s tomb, Galahad flips instantly. You’ll lose the peaceful option and have to fight him.

✅ Option #1 – Siding with Galahad (Kill One-Eye)

Team up with Galahad? Then get ready for an epic siege at All-Mother’s Temple. When you return, he’s already gone full-on knight mode, clearing out the place. After the dust settles:

  • Galahad will tell you about a Keeper ritual involving a gong in the Sunken Village—this kicks off the Excalibur questline.
  • He hands you a letter appointing Faerghas as interim captain.
  • Head back to the Horns of the South, speak to Faerghas, and boom—a cutscene triggers the next story beat: A World to Win.

✨ Bonus: If you really hate Breandan, you can kill him before meeting Galahad and still progress.

❌ Option #2 – Kill Galahad (Side with One-Eye)

Decide Galahad’s gotta go? Prepare for a brawl in the stronghold. You’ll take on the knight himself (tough but doable), and then fight off his angry followers.

Loot haul:

  • Galahad’s Mace
  • Royal Butcher’s Armor Set
  • 1800 XP

After the fight, report back to Breandan and One-Eye at All-Mother’s Temple. They’ll fill you in on the next steps:

  1. Choose:
    • “I’m listening” (good)
    • “I’m just here for Excalibur” (bad—quest fails)
  2. Get the key to Sewal’s Crypt in Sunken Village.
  3. Head to the crypt, beat the baddies, open the hidden door, and meet Sewal, who spills major lore tea: Arthur was greedy, Merlin was obsessed, and you’ve been caught in something way bigger.

Eventually, you’ll guide Faerghas to the crypt to witness the truth, then return to the temple for a cutscene where Breandan and One-Eye talk about rebuilding Kamelot.

🤔 So… Who Should You Kill?

➕ Siding with Galahad:

  • Aligns you with Kamelot.
  • You lose access to Sewal’s Crypt and deep lore about Arthur.
  • May lead to Galahad as a powerful ally later on.
  • Burns your bridge with the Keepers.

➕ Siding with One-Eye & Breandan:

  • Grants you Sewal’s knowledge and insight into Arthur’s corruption.
  • Helps unify the tribes of Avalon.
  • But… Breandan’s a backstabber who manipulated you from the start.

This isn’t just a good vs. evil choice. It’s truth vs. loyalty. Legacy vs. freedom. And whatever you choose, it echoes through the rest of the game. No pressure, right?

Pick wisely, hero. Avalon’s fate might just hinge on your decision.
