GTA 6 Dev Car Up for Auction – Fans Can Own a Piece of the Game’s History

Fans have been waiting for more than a decade for GTA 6, and while the game itself still is not out, one lucky gamer (or collector with deep pockets) now has the chance to grab a real-life piece of GTA 6 history a car used in the game’s development is officially up for auction.

Yeah not merch, not a promo statue, but an actual replica police car that Rockstar used to help build GTA 6.

The Car That Made It Into GTA 6

According to the auction listing, the car is a 2013 Chevy police cruiser that Rockstar 3D‑scanned to appear as one of the police vehicles in GTA 6.

For anyone who doesn’t know 3D scanning is how developers capture every bump, dent, and detail from real-world objects to create hyper‑realistic in‑game models.

So when you eventually get pulled over by the cops in Vice City, there is a chance it will be this exact car chasing you down in digital form.

The vehicle even comes decked out with:

  • Vice City police decals on the sides, hood, and trunk
  • A personalized plate reading “SCAREDU” (which is… peak Rockstar humor)
  • Its own history of being driven around for GTA 6 promotional purposes

Basically it’s a crossover collectible — part prop, part real car, part in‑game lore.

Auction Details (and the Current Price Tag)

When the listing first went live, the starting bid was just $10. Unsurprisingly, that dream is dead.

At the time of writing, bids have climbed past $3,250 with 20 competing offers, and it’s not hard to imagine it climbing even higher as GTA hype keeps building toward launch.

The car itself is located in Colorado, and yes, according to the auction, it’s street legal and “runs & drives.” Which means, technically, you could roll up to Starbucks in the same car that’s about to chase players down in Vice City. Expect double takes. Possibly actual cops asking questions.

A Rare Piece of Gaming History

While video games and car manufacturers have teamed up countless times before (looking at you, Gran Turismo concept cars), owning an actual developer-scanned vehicle is a way rarer piece of gaming memorabilia.

Whether it ends up going for “modest collector money” or “how do I explain this purchase to my bank” levels remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: this is the kind of collectible that blurs the line between the real world and Rockstar’s virtual Vice City.

GTA 6 might still be months away, but someone’s about to live the dream of owning a car that stars both in real life and in the most anticipated game of the decade.

It’ll be the ultimate flex to cruise around in a GTA 6 cop car while the world waits for release day. Just… maybe don’t tempt fate by speeding past the real police in it.
