Some players in GTA Online chase heists, own nightclubs, or run criminal empires. Others? They just drive a cab.

One incredibly dedicated player, Reddit user KyotoJF, recently shared a wild milestone with the GTA Online community: they made $2,179,800 by doing taxi work. That’s right—no high-speed chases, no armed robberies, just good old-fashioned ride-hailing.

I completed 156 fares and made $2,179,800 in 7 hours and 39 minutes.

🚖 Over $2 Million in Taxi Fares

According to KyotoJF, it took 156 completed fares and 7 hours, 39 minutes of in-game time to rack up that amount. Given that the average base fare is around $100–$200, that massive total came mostly from tips, which can reach up to $2,000 per ride depending on your driving skills.

😂 Fans React: “Bro’s Working Harder Than in Real Life”

GTA fans on Reddit had a field day with the post. Some praised the grind, while others couldn’t believe the patience it took:

  • “Brother putting in more work on the game than in real life.”
  • “I did 11 fares and gave up. No way I’m doing over 150.”
  • One player pointed out that you can make the same amount in 2 hours by doing two Dr. Dre contracts.

Still, there was a general appreciation for KyotoJF’s commitment—especially considering how easy it is to get distracted in GTA’s chaotic world.

🛠️ Taxi Work in GTA Online

Taxi jobs were introduced in the Los Santos Drug Wars update, along with new story missions.

Getting started is easy—just head to the Downtown Cab Co. depot and start taking fares.

While it may not be the most thrilling job, it’s a fun (and surprisingly lucrative) way to make money if you drive clean and rack up tips.

Even with GTA 6 still on the horizon, GTA Online continues to thrive. The game’s regular updates and open-world freedom keep players coming back, whether they’re leading heists, collecting exotic cars, or—apparently—mastering the art of being a taxi driver.
