Chapter 4 of Herdling kicks off right where Chapter 3 left off—boarding the ferry. This section is shorter but introduces some new hazards (unstable ground!) and sets you up for the big climb into the Mountain Range. Let’s walk through it step by step.

Getting to the Ferry
- When you arrive at the ferry dock, push the gear mechanism against the wall with your herd.
- Climb up the ledge on the left and pull the lever to summon the ferry.
- Inside the ferry, there’s a new Calicorn waiting—tame it immediately.
- Climb to the upper platform, pull the lever again, and ride across.
Unlocking the Mural Achievement
On the far side, you’ll probably need a Stampede to get your herd up the slope. At the top is a narrow path.
Look around for yellow flowers—interact with them to reveal a mural painting. Follow the on-screen instructions:
- Hold RT.
- When the camera locks on the mural, release RT and press it again.
This unlocks the achievement:
🏆 Revelation – Reveal a painting.
Boulder & First Decoration
Push the boulder ahead, then check near the bridge for a Decoration to collect.
Navigating the Crumbling Ground
Here’s where things get spicy.
- Stay close to the left side when crossing the stone totem area—if it crumbles, it’ll take part of the ground with it.
- Another unstable patch is waiting further up. Even if you hug the left side, it can be buggy (I lost one Calicorn here even though they were in the “safe” zone).
👉 Pro tip: Keep your herd slowed down so you can react quickly. If one slides, be ready to rescue them.
The good news: after these two traps, there are no more collapsing sections in this chapter.
The Big Slope & Route Choice
Keep moving and you’ll hit another slope that requires a Stampede.
Then comes a fork:
- Left path – Steeper, requires a Stampede, but safer overall.
- Right path – Doable, but more dangerous with a chance of herd injuries.
I tested both, and while the right path is possible, I’d recommend the left path just to play it safe.
Healing & Chapter Completion
At the top, you’ll find some berries. Use them to heal any Calicorns that got dinged during the unstable ground sections.
Continue forward until you reach the final slope. Once you climb it, the chapter ends.

This chapter is basically a transition zone—it’s shorter, but the crumbling ground sections can ruin your run if you’re careless. Think of it as a warm-up before Herdling throws even tougher terrain at you.
FAQ – Chapter 4 Essentials
When you reach the narrow path at the top of the slope, spot the yellow flowers near the mural. Hold down the right trigger until the camera locks onto the mural, then release and press right trigger again. This action reveals the painting and unlocks the “Revelation Reveal” achievement.
After pushing the boulder near the bridge, look around the area carefully—there’s a Decoration close by just before you cross the bridge. Make sure to grab it before moving forward!
The right path is easier and less risky but comes with a higher chance of injuring your Calicorns. The left path is safer and better for keeping your herd healthy, so it’s recommended if you want to avoid healings or losing anyone.
