Complete the Cloaks of the Choir quest in Hollow Knight Silksong. Find the best farming locations, enemy types, and strategies to collect all 15 Choir Cloaks efficiently.
TL;DR
Need 15 Choir Cloaks for Songclave? Hunt down Choir Flyers, Choir Pouncers, and Choir Hornheads in the Choral Chambers. Best farming spot is the tall room left of the Whiteward entrance – all three enemy types spawn there. Cloaks drop about 50% of the time, so expect some grinding. Reward is a Heavy Rosary Necklace worth 220 Rosaries. Just don’t let enemies die over spikes or you’ll lose the drops!
Ah, the Cloaks of the Choir quest – or as I like to call it, “that time Hornet became a fashion police officer.” This is one of those quests that sounds simple on paper but can turn into a bit of a grind if you don’t know the right spots to farm. Lucky for you, I’ve spent way too much time hunting down fancy cloaks, so let me save you some frustration.
Before you can even think about collecting choir cloaks, you’ve got some groundwork to lay. This isn’t a quest you can just stumble into – it requires specific progression steps that might take a while if you haven’t been thorough in your exploration.
Prerequisites checklist:
The whole progression feels a bit like a bureaucratic process – complete one quest to unlock another quest to unlock another quest. But hey, that’s Silksong for you. At least the payoff is decent!
Here’s where things get specific, and this tripped me up initially. Not every fancy-looking enemy in the Choral Chambers drops what you need. You’re looking for actual Choir Cloaks, not just any religious-looking garb.
The right targets:
Not your targets:
The drop rate sits at roughly 50%, which means you’ll need to kill about 30 enemies on average to get your 15 cloaks. Not terrible, but not great either – especially when you factor in the time spent getting to and from farming spots.
After testing multiple spots throughout the Choral Chambers, I found the absolute best place to farm these cloaks. It’s the tall room to the left of the Whiteward entrance, right below where you can pick up the Great Taste of Pharloom quest.
Why this room is perfect:
The farming routine:
Pro tip: Keep track of your cloak count as you go. I made the mistake of not counting and ended up farming way more than necessary because I wasn’t sure how many I had.
If sitting in one room for 20 minutes isn’t your idea of fun (and honestly, I don’t blame you), there’s a more scenic approach. The left side of the Choral Chambers generally has a good population of choir enemies scattered throughout.
The tour method:
This approach takes longer but feels less mind-numbing. Plus, you’ll earn extra Rosaries from all the additional enemies you defeat, which is never a bad thing.
Spike awareness: This is huge and cost me several cloaks when I first started farming. Quest items get destroyed if enemies die over spikes or other damaging terrain. Always position yourself so enemies fall onto safe ground when defeated.
Enemy positioning matters: Choir Flyers like to hang around chandeliers, which are often positioned over hazards. Use ranged attacks or lure them to safer areas before finishing them off.
Don’t get greedy: It’s tempting to try to kill multiple enemies at once for efficiency, but this increases the chance of losing drops to environmental hazards. Take your time with each enemy.
Bench management: The bench resets are crucial for efficient farming. Don’t wander too far from the farming room or you’ll waste time getting back to the action.
The Heavy Rosary Necklace you get for completing this quest is worth 220 Rosaries, plus you’ll earn additional Rosaries from all the enemies you defeat during the farming process. For a relatively straightforward gathering quest, that’s decent value.
But honestly? The real reward is crossing another quest off your list and helping out the pilgrims in Songclave. There’s something satisfying about bringing those cloaks back and knowing you’ve made a small difference in their lives, even if it’s just virtual kindness.
Build recommendations:
Time management:
Resource tracking:
Wrong enemy types: Don’t waste time on Reed or Choristor enemies – they won’t drop what you need no matter how many you kill.
Environmental hazards: Always check what’s below an enemy before delivering the killing blow.
Impatience: The 50% drop rate means you’ll have dry spells. Don’t give up after a few enemies don’t drop cloaks.
Over-farming: Stop at 15 cloaks – there’s no benefit to collecting extras for this quest.

The Cloaks of the Choir quest embodies what makes Silksong’s side content so engaging – it’s not just mindless busywork, but a meaningful way to help the characters you meet along your journey. Sure, the farming can get a bit repetitive, but there’s something oddly meditative about methodically clearing that farming room over and over.
Plus, once you know the optimal farming spot and strategies, the whole quest becomes much more manageable. It’s one of those challenges that seems daunting until you have the right information, then becomes almost routine.
My advice? Don’t try to rush through it in one sitting. Farm a few cloaks here and there as you explore, and before you know it, you’ll have enough to complete the quest. The pilgrims of Songclave are counting on you – don’t let them down!
