Wondering how long a run takes in Elden Ring Nightreign? Here’s a breakdown of expedition length, boss fight timing, and how long it takes to roll credits.
In Elden Ring Nightreign, the core gameplay loop revolves around setting out on expeditions—either solo or with up to two other players.
Whether you’re rolling with a squad or taking the lone wolf route, the goal is the same: make it through the full run, defeat the final boss, and walk away with as many rewards as possible.
But how long do these expeditions actually take? Let’s break it down. You may also be interested in Best Solo Classes and Best and Worst Starting Classes.
🔄 Expedition Structure in Nightreign
Every run follows the same structure, broken into five main phases:
- Day 1
- Night 1 (Nightboss Fight)
- Day 2
- Night 2 (Another Nightboss Fight)
- Day 3 (Final boss: The Nightlord)

⏱️ How Long Is Each Expedition?
- Each Day Phase lasts 14 minutes. During that time, you can explore freely, upgrade your flask, collect loot, and prepare for the boss. The storm circle starts closing in during this period, forcing you to move toward the objective.
- Nightboss and Nightlord fights have no timers, so their duration depends entirely on your group’s coordination, your class composition, and how tough the boss is.
✅ Average expedition time:
- 40 to 50 minutes for a full run
- Up to 1 hour if your boss fights drag out or you take a break before the Nightlord
There’s also a short resting period between Nightboss 2 and the Nightlord, giving you time to breathe or gear up before the final fight.

💀 What If You Die Early?
If your team gets wiped out during any Nightboss or before reaching the Nightlord, the expedition ends early. But don’t worry—you still get rewards based on how far you made it, so even shorter runs are worth doing.
🕹️ How Long Does It Take to Beat Elden Ring Nightreign?
There is a light story woven into Nightreign, and while there are credits to roll, the game doesn’t force you to stop playing once you reach the “end.”
- Fast, efficient players can roll credits in just a few hours by completing the mandatory expeditions quickly.
- Others who take their time, fail a few runs, or dive deep into upgrades and side content can easily sink dozens of hours into the game.
🎯 To “beat” the game:
- Complete the first mandatory expedition
- Then complete any four additional expeditions in whatever order you like
- After that, you’ll unlock the ending and can choose whether or not to trigger the credits
You can continue playing post-credits, running more expeditions to strengthen your characters, chase gear, or just enjoy the loop.
Summary
- Expedition length: ~40–50 mins (can stretch to an hour)
- Day phases: 14 minutes each
- Boss fights: No time limit
- Early deaths = shorter runs, but still get rewards
- To beat the game: Finish 5 expeditions total
- You can keep playing after rolling credits
