Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Golgra Rewards

Wondering if you should fight Golgra in Expedition 33? Here’s how to beat her in every scenario and what awesome rewards you can expect—including rare weapons and Chroma Catalysts.

Spoiler Alert

Golgra: One of the Toughest Gestrals in Expedition 33

Out of all the Gestrals you’ll meet in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, three really stand out—Noco, Golgra, and Monoco. Noco is the first one you’ll meet after reuniting with Maelle. Not long after that, you’ll find yourself in the Gestral Village where you’ll meet Golgra, the Chief of the Gestrals.

Golgra’s no pushover—she’s described as “absurdly strong,” and you can challenge her to a duel inside the Chief’s House. But here’s a heads-up: if you pick a fight with her too early, she’ll wipe the floor with you.

So the big questions are: when should you fight her, how do you actually beat her, and what do you get out of it?

All the Ways You Can Fight Golgra in Expedition 33

There are four scenarios where you can face off against Golgra:

  1. Provoke her to a duel in the Chief’s House in the Gestral Village (toughest version).
  2. Talk to her as Monoco in the same place (super easy).
  3. Fight her in the Dark Gestral Arena.
  4. Battle her during Monoco’s friendship quest at the Sacred River.

Out of all these, scenario 1 is by far the hardest, while the other three are more manageable and better suited for early or mid-game.

How to Beat Golgra (Tips & Strategy)

Golgra has over 3 million HP and can one-shot your characters early on. You’ll want to save this fight for late-game unless you love pain. Still, her attack patterns are predictable once you get the hang of them—especially with the clear sound cues before each hit.

She uses a mix of 3-hit and 6-hit combos, with a few nasty moves:

  • One attack needs a jump dodge + Gradient counter.
  • Another only requires a Gradient counter.
  • Once she’s below 50% HP, she gets Powerful and Rush buffs—remove them using Powerless or Slow, but it’s optional.

Best Luminas for the Golgra Fight

You’ll want solo-focused Luminas, especially if you’re running a one-character setup:

Recommended Luminas:

  • Accelerating Last Stand
  • Empowering Last Stand
  • Last Stand Critical
  • Protecting Last Stand
  • Solo Fighter

Overpowered (but harder to get):

  • Cheater: Beat Sprong
  • Energy Master: Beat Serpenphare
  • Clea’s Life: From a boss in the Flying Manor—auto full heal if no damage was taken the turn before
    • Combo tip: Use it with Cheater for back-to-back turns and full heals!
