How to Complete Peryite’s Quest and Get the Spell Breaker Shield

Learn how to find Peryite’s Shrine, rescue his followers in Oblivion Remastered, and claim the powerful Spell Breaker shield to reflect enemy spells in battle.
While he’s not the most popular of the Daedric Princes, Peryite still has a loyal, if slightly twisted, following. As the Lord of Pestilence and ruler of the lower planes of Oblivion, it’s no surprise that his quest in Oblivion Remastered sends players into a hellish plane full of lava, demons, and lost souls.
Helping Peryite doesn’t just earn you his favor — you’ll walk away with Spell Breaker, a unique Daedric Artifact that’s perfect for surviving enemy magic attacks.
Here’s everything you need to know about starting Peryite’s quest, saving his followers, and getting your hands on that shield.
Where to Find Peryite’s Shrine in Oblivion Remastered
You’ll find Peryite’s Shrine in the far eastern region of Bravil, near the end of the Silverfish River.
When you arrive, you’ll notice five of Peryite’s followers frozen like statues around the shrine. You can’t interact with them, loot them, or kill them — they’re in limbo.

To start the quest:
- You need to be at least Level 10.
- Interact with the shrine to commune with Peryite.
Peryite will explain that his followers’ souls are trapped in Oblivion, and he needs your help to bring them back.
Important:
Once you accept the quest, you’ll be teleported to the Oblivion realm and won’t be able to leave until you rescue all five followers.
Come prepared with plenty of Healing Potions and Water Walking spells — there’s a ton of lava, and Fire Resistance doesn’t protect against lava damage!
How to Free All 5 Souls of Peryite’s Followers
After accepting Peryite’s task, he’ll send you straight into his version of Oblivion.
The mission is simple: find and interact with all 5 lost souls. Your quest markers will show you where to go, but getting to them is where the challenge lies.
- The landscape is broken into separate islands.
- You’ll have to cross lava flows and navigate tricky terrain.
- Sometimes it’s faster (and safer) to just run through lava while chugging Healing Potions.

Here’s who you need to find:
- Soul of Er-Teeus
- Soul of Ilvel Romayn
- Soul of Mirie
- Soul of Maren the Seal
- Soul of Kewan
After touching the fifth soul, head back to the central island where a portal back to Cyrodiil will appear. Step through it to return safely to Peryite’s Shrine.
Quick Tip:
There’s no Sigil Stone or bonus loot here like in regular Oblivion gates, so don’t waste time exploring too much — just focus on rescuing the souls.

How to Get the Spell Breaker Shield
After returning to Cyrodiil, speak with Peryite’s statue one last time.
He’ll reward you with the Spell Breaker shield, automatically placing it into your inventory.
Spell Breaker Stats:
- Type: Heavy Armor Shield
- Special Effect: 30% chance to reflect spells back onto the enemy caster
It’s a fantastic tool for shutting down enemy spellcasters and turning their magic against them. Perfect if you’re tired of mages setting you on fire or hitting you with paralysis spells.
Peryite’s quest might seem a little tedious with all the lava hopping and soul hunting, but the Spell Breaker shield makes it well worth your time.
If you’re building a tanky character or just want a little magical insurance against enemy wizards, Spell Breaker is a must-have.
Suit up, stock your potions, and step into Peryite’s plane — those souls aren’t going to rescue themselves. 🔥🛡️
