Mario Kart World brings back all the classic game modes we love—like Grand Prix, Time Trials, Vs Race, and Battle—but also spices things up with a standout feature: Free Roam.
This new mode lets players explore the huge world map, find cool collectibles, unlock new outfits, and complete fun missions scattered across the map.
One of these missions takes place at Peach Stadium and challenges players to fly across a lake and reach a flagpole—all while dodging aggressive fish. If you’re aiming for 100% completion, this mission is a must-conquer. Here’s how to do it right.
How to Clear the Lake at Peach Stadium
Peach Stadium sits smack in the center of the map, and just north of it is a star-shaped lake with a few hidden missions around it.
One key mission starts when you activate a P Switch just south of the river. It tells you to “clear the lake without becoming fish food”—yep, that means make it across without getting chomped.
To get started, speed down the road from Peach Stadium toward the lake. You’ll want to build up as much momentum as possible.
Along the way, look out for boost ramps—they’re crucial for picking up speed. Make sure to avoid any traffic, and whatever you do, hit that jump pad near the fountain to launch yourself into the air.
Reaching the Flagpole Without Becoming Fish Bait
Once you’re airborne, stay high above the water to avoid those pesky fish. A simple way to do this is by tilting your analog stick back slightly to maintain your altitude.
There are some star-shaped checkpoints in the air that’ll give you a nice little speed boost if you fly through them, but they’re optional. The real goal is making it to the flagpole on the other side of the lake.
Now here’s the trick: right before you reach land, aim to land on the water just in front of the final stretch. This slows you down a bit and lines you up perfectly with a ground boost pad. Hit that pad and it’ll shoot you forward—right toward the flagpole.
