The Dragonfly is one of the most sought-after pets in Grow a Garden thanks to its insane Gold mutation passive. Learn how to get it, hatch it, and boost your profits big time.
One of Roblox’s most popular farming games, Grow a Garden, just keeps getting better—and now it has pets! These adorable (and sometimes powerful) critters hatch from colorful eggs, each tied to a different species. But if there’s one pet everyone’s chasing, it’s the Dragonfly.
This little bug isn’t just cute—it’s arguably the best pet in the game right now. So what makes it so special, and more importantly, how do you actually get one? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back—grab your gardening gloves, and let’s dive in. Also check How to Get and Use the Star Caller, How to Get the Mole Pet, and How to Get the Rare Pepper Seed.
How to Get the Dragonfly in Grow a Garden
To get the Dragonfly, you’ll need to hatch it from a Bug Egg, which you can buy at the Pet Eggs stall right next to the Gear Shop area.
Here’s the process:
- The Bug Egg is a greenish oval with little wings attached.
- It costs a massive 50,000,000 Sheckles, and there’s only a 3% chance it’ll show up in the egg shop.
- Even if you snag one, there’s just a 1% chance that it hatches into a Dragonfly.
So yeah, this one’s a serious grind.

Your options:
- Wait and grind for a Bug Egg in the shop (slow but free).
- Buy an Exotic Bug Egg pack from the in-game shop for 199 Robux (faster hatch time, but same odds).
- Trade with other players to get a Bug Egg and try your luck.
Once you have a Bug Egg:
- Place it in an empty patch in your garden.
- Hatch time is 8 hours (if bought with Sheckles) or just 30 seconds (if bought with Robux).
What hatches? You could get Snails, a Giant Ant, a Caterpillar, a Praying Mantis, or—if you’re lucky—a Dragonfly.
Why the Dragonfly Is So Good
The Dragonfly is a Divine-tier pet, and yeah—it lives up to the hype.
Here’s what it does:
- Every 4 minutes and 50 seconds, it gives a random fruit the Gold mutation.
- This boosts the fruit’s value by a whopping 20x.
Note: The passive doesn’t work on Mushrooms (for now), but honestly, it’s still OP for almost everything else in your garden.
If you’re trying to max out your profits and flex your divine pet collection, the Dragonfly is a must-have.
