Mario Kart World doesnโt just bring a massive lineup of charactersโit also offers a wide variety of Grand Prix challenges to conquer.
As you start mastering each track and drifting through turns like a pro, youโll probably set your sights on the top prize: that coveted three-star gold trophy.
This guide breaks down everything you need to know to crush each Grand Prix and claim the highest possible score in Mario Kart World. Also check out Guide for Looking Back and How Tricks Work.

Grand Prix Star Ranks Explained
After wrapping up all four races in a Grand Prix, youโll be treated to a little victory celebration.
Trophies are handed out to the top racers, and once youโre back at the Grand Prix menu, youโll notice an icon next to the cup you just finished. That icon reflects your best result so far.
Hereโs a quick breakdown of the possible ranks:
- Bronze Trophy
- Silver Trophy
- Gold Trophy (No Stars)
- โญ Gold Trophy (1 Star)
- โญโญ Gold Trophy (2 Stars)
- โญโญโญ Gold Trophy (3 Stars)

If hitting three stars feels a bit out of reach, donโt stress. You can always drop the difficulty down to 100CC or 50CC while learning the ropes on each track.
Just note: your star rankings reflect your highest score earned on the toughest difficulty you’ve played.
So, if you snag a silver trophy on 150CC, that score will update across all lower difficultiesโunless youโve already earned something better there. For example, if you have a gold on 50CC, it wonโt be overwritten by a lower-tier result.

How to Get a Three-Star Gold Trophy
Now, for the big oneโhow to actually earn that flashy three-star gold trophy.
To do it, youโll need to finish first in all four races of the Grand Prix, scoring a perfect 60 points total. Thatโs the only way to secure the highest possible ranking. No pressure, right?

It’s definitely a challengeโespecially on higher difficultiesโbut with enough practice (and maybe a few power-ups), itโs totally doable.
