How to Go Fishing in inZOI
One of the cool things about inZOI is how your ZOI can dive into all kinds of hobbies when theyโre not grinding away at work or checking off tasks.ย
Whether itโs painting, writing, or yesโfishingโthese hobbies arenโt just for fun. Some of them actually help you make money, find unique items, or gather ingredients for crafting and cooking.
Fishing in inZOI is especially useful. Itโs a fun and low-effort way to collect resources, and it can earn your ZOI a bit of cash on the side.
While the current fishing system is fairly simple (and probably due for updates as the game continues to grow), thereโs still plenty to enjoy and make use of if you know how to work it right.

Where and How to Start Fishing
To get started, youโll need to head to a specific fishing spot in the game. These are typically located near bodies of waterโrivers, lakes, or oceansโso itโs worth exploring each city to find the right areas. For example:
- Harang River Park in Dowon has a nice riverside fishing area. Just walk over to the small area near the water.
- North Beach in Bliss Bay is another great fishing spot. Head out onto the piers and look for tackle boxes there.
At these locations, youโll see tackle boxes. Interact with one to choose between two fishing options:
- โGo Fishingโ โ This is totally free and will still land you something decent.
- โFish with Advanced Baitโ โ Costs 5 Meow per use but has a much better chance of reeling in rare or more valuable catches.
Catching something doesnโt take long, so you might want to queue up a few fishing actions in a row to let your ZOI fish for longer. And yes, while fish are the main catch, you might also fish up some other quirky thingsโlike plush toys or random junk.

What You Can Catch
The types of fish (and items) you can get are somewhat random, though the bait type you use seems to influence your odds. Basic bait still catches decent stuff, but advanced bait tends to bring in higher-value fish and rare finds.
Hereโs a sample of what you might catch:
- Banded Butterfly Fish โ Sell it secondhand
- Teira Batfish โ Sellable
- Emperor Angelfish โ Same deal
- Great Barracuda โ Can be filleted or sold
- Trash โ No value, but it happens
- Boki Doll โ A cute plush you can display or sell
It’s not a complete list, but those are some of the more common ones. Advanced bait seems to boost your chances of nabbing higher-tier items like the Great Barracuda.

Managing and Using Your Catch
Once your ZOI catches something, theyโll hold it in their handโat least until they need their hands for something else, at which point it gets stashed in their inventory. You can bring the item back out by clicking on it and using the โTake Outโ option in the bottom-right corner of the inventory panel.
From there, your ZOI can:
- Place it down โ Click on any surface and hit โPlace.โ Be careful, thoughโfish spoil over time, so donโt leave them just lying around the house.
- Sell it โ If you want to make some cash, sell it secondhand.
- Fillet it โ Some fish can be turned into fillets that are used in cooking recipes.
Selling Fish the Smart Way
If youโre planning to sell your catch, youโll want to pick up a Secondhand Sales Counter. Hereโs how to set that up:
- Go into Build Mode and search for โSecondhandโ in the search bar.
- Place the counter somewhere outside your ZOIโs house.
- Take out the fish from your inventory, place it on the counter, and click โSell Secondhand.โ
- Set a price and wait for other ZOIs to (hopefully) make a purchase.
Selling secondhand is the main way to profit from fishing, especially if youโre pulling in a lot of catches during your fishing sessions. You can also use the Pocket Market via your ZOIโs smartphone for other types of items, but fish go best through secondhand sales.
Using Fish for Cooking
Some fish, particularly larger ones, can be filleted. Just click on the fish in your inventory and choose the โFilletโ option. Fillets donโt expire (yep, theyโre magically preserved), and theyโre key ingredients in a few cooking recipes.
If your ZOI is working on their cooking skill, this is super handy. Recipes like sushi will eventually pop up as your ZOI levels up, and fillets are a must for those dishes. So if youโre into the cooking path, itโs totally worth stocking up on a few fillets.
Extra Tips and Things to Know
- No Skill Requirement (for now): Fishing doesnโt have a skill tree, so your ZOI will fish just as effectively from day one. This could change in future updates.
- Bait Quality Matters: Advanced bait increases the odds of better catches, including rare fish and unique items.
- More Fishing Spots Coming: As more cities roll out in inZOIโs development, expect new fishing locations to open up. Until then, stick to known spots near major bodies of water.
- Non-Fish Items: Sometimes youโll fish up items that arenโt fish at allโlike dolls or trash. Some are sellable, others are purely decorative (or just useless).
Wrapping It Up
Fishing in inZOI might not be the deepest system in the game (yet), but itโs a fun, chill, and profitable activity. Whether youโre just trying to make some extra Meow, gather ingredients for your next meal, or fill your house with weird collectibles, casting a line is always worth your time.
As the game continues to evolve, the fishing system might get more complexity and varietyโbut for now, itโs a great way to kick back and make your ZOIโs life just a little more interesting.
