One early example shows up in Chapter 2, where you’ll spot a doorway completely blocked by flaming red-hot gas spewing from a busted pipe. Naturally, you’ll want in, but getting there isn’t as simple as finding a path overhead or brute-forcing it.
Here’s how to shut off the flames and open the lava door to access the secret area behind it.
How to Open the Lava Door
- Walk past the broken pipe and head up the stairs just beyond it.
- Turn left to spot a climbable wall—go up.
- At the top, grab a few pieces of Gold from the rooftop.
- Look right to see a red metal cross on a wall nearby.
- Throw the Shield Saw at it to break the wall and open a new hole.
- Jump through the hole to reach a small interior area.
- To your right, find a valve next to the door.
- Press Circle (PS) or B (Xbox) to interact with the valve.
This shuts off the flames, and the lava door below will automatically open, giving you access to the previously blocked-off secret area.

Once you’re inside, here’s what you’ll find:
- 9 pieces of Gold
- 1 Life Sigil
- A single enemy
- A handful of ammo and health pickups

When you’re done looting, throw your shield at the glowing red cross on the exit gate to bust it open and return to the main path.
