Oblivion Remastered’s Vile Lair: How to Access and Master Deepscorn Hollow

Oblivion Remastered brings back the fan-favorite hideouts and homes from the original game, and Deepscorn Hollow is easily one of the most memorable ones. Originally part of the Vile Lair DLC, this shady sanctuary is now fully available in the remaster. It’s tailor-made for players with high infamy or vampiric tendencies, offering a place to rest, brew potions, stock up on exclusive loot, and feed your darker cravings. Here’s how to claim your creepy new home.

How to Start the Vile Lair DLC

To get started with the Vile Lair DLC in Oblivion Remastered, make your way to Deepscorn Hollow. You’ll find it way down south on the map, southeast of Leyawiin along the shoreline. Once you reach the spot, a quest will automatically trigger that points you toward the entrance of this hidden lair.

You’ll need to dive into the water at the marked location and swim down until you spot a hollow tree trunk. Keep going until you find a door embedded inside—it’ll take you straight into the heart of Deepscorn Hollow.

Before you can fully use the lair, though, you’ll have to restore it to its former, sinister glory.

Restoring the Deepscorn Hollow Hideout

To unlock everything Deepscorn Hollow has to offer, you’ll need to furnish it. Head over to the Wawnet Inn near the Imperial City and talk to Rowley Eardwulf. He sells all the upgrades you need to complete the lair.

Exploring Deepscorn Hollow

Deepscorn Hollow is a vampire or villain’s dream lair. Whether you’ve racked up tons of infamy or fully embraced the vampire life, this place has what you need to thrive in the shadows.

Start with the garden beneath the massive tree—it’s filled with poisonous plants perfect for crafting deadly potions. Head into the Cloister and veer left to find Purgeblood Salts. These can be used at the Font of Renewal to cure Vampirism if you’re having second thoughts. Further ahead lies the Cattle Cell, where you can feed on a prisoner if you’re sticking to the vampire route.

Going right from the entrance takes you into the Deepscorn Bastion. Here, you’ll meet your Dark Minion—a loyal assassin who’ll go out and kill for Sithis, possibly raising your infamy in the process. There’s also a Sleeping Coffin for the full vampire roleplay experience.

Before you wrap up, don’t forget the exclusive gear:

  • Raiment of the Crimson Scar – Found in the Bastion next to the coffin.
  • Crimson Eviscerator – A powerful weapon hidden inside an Unusual Box at the Deepscorn Shrine’s altar.

Ready to rule the night? Deepscorn Hollow is your sinister sanctuary, just waiting to be claimed.
