How to Unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World

Mirror Mode has been a fan-favorite challenge in Mario Kart for years, flipping the tracks and forcing players to re-learn routes they thought theyโ€™d mastered.

But in Mario Kart World, unlocking Mirror Mode isnโ€™t as straightforwardโ€”it takes a bit of dedication and a lot of exploration.

If youโ€™ve been scratching your head trying to figure it out, donโ€™t worryโ€”weโ€™ve laid it all out for you. Here’s how to unlock Mirror Mode and dive into the flipped madness.

Mirror Mode Unlock Requirements

Unlocking Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World involves completing a series of objectives across multiple game modes.

The good news? You donโ€™t need Gold Cups or perfect finishesโ€”you just need to complete the tasks. Hereโ€™s the full breakdown:

Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World

โœ… Step-by-Step Requirements:

  1. Complete all 7 Grand Prix on 150CC
    • You donโ€™t need to win every race or grab the Gold Cupโ€”just finish each Grand Prix at 150CC difficulty.
  2. Complete all 8 Knockout Tour Rallies
    • Again, placement doesnโ€™t matter hereโ€”just finish all eight.
  3. Complete 40 P-Switch Missions in Free Roam
    • Explore and interact with P-Switches scattered throughout the world until youโ€™ve completed 40.
  4. Collect 10 Peach Medallions in Free Roam
    • Keep an eye out for these while roaming; you only need ten.

Once youโ€™ve knocked those four tasks out, thereโ€™s one final challenge waiting for you.

Final Step:

Complete the Special Cup Grand Prix on 150CC

  • This cup unlocks after completing all 7 standard Grand Prix tournaments.
  • You donโ€™t have to win the whole thingโ€”just finish it.

After finishing the Special Cup, youโ€™ll trigger a secret ending cutscene where Mario and Luigi watch the world flip on itselfโ€”literally. From there, youโ€™ll be able to access Mirror Mode in both VS Race and Grand Prix.

Still Not Unlocked? Try This:

If youโ€™ve done everything above and Mirror Mode still hasnโ€™t unlocked, hereโ€™s a quick fix thatโ€™s worked for some players:

โžก๏ธ Head back into Free Roam
โžก๏ธ Collect at least 10 โ€œ?โ€ Panels
โžก๏ธ Make sure your combined total of P-Switches, Peach Medallions, and โ€œ?โ€ Panels equals 100

Once youโ€™ve done that, try running the Special Cup again. That should do the trick.

Play Mario Kart World on Nintendo.
