The Duchess is one of two unlockable characters in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn how to get her, what makes her unique, and why you’ll want her on your team.
👑 How to Unlock the Duchess
There are two characters in Elden Ring Nightreign you won’t have access to right out of the gate. While Revenant is locked behind a Murk purchase, Duchess is tied to your story progression—and she’s arguably one of the most interesting classes in the game once unlocked.
If you’re itching to add this stylish, agile powerhouse to your roster, here’s exactly how to unlock her and a breakdown of what she brings to your team. Also check Best Day 1 Strategy and All Map Locations.

✨ Duchess Character Overview
The Duchess plays like a high-mobility rogue with a focus on timing, synergy, and deception. She’s tricky to master solo but absolutely shines when paired with a coordinated group.
Passive – Magnificent Poise
- Encourages precise dodging and attacking.
- Rewards double-dodges with extra invincibility frames.

Skill – Restage
- Repeats the last few seconds of damage dealt to an enemy.
- Super strong when timed after critical hits or ultimates from allies (looking at you, Wylder mains).
Ultimate Art – Finale
- Grants invisibility to the Duchess and nearby teammates.
- Great for repositioning mid-boss fight, avoiding detection, or setting up sneak attacks.
⚔️ Playstyle Tip: The Duchess isn’t tanky, so rely on her mobility and positioning. Her dash is like Sekiro’s step-dodge—fluid and chainable, perfect for stylish outplays.

🕰️ How to Unlock the Duchess in Nightreign
You won’t find the Duchess in the character list when you first launch the game—but you will eventually earn her by progressing through the story.
Here’s how to make it happen:
1. Complete the Tricephalos Expedition
- Defeat Gladius, Beast of Night—the three-headed Nightlord.
- After the expedition, you’ll get a key item called the Old Pocketwatch in your reward cache.
💡 Note: You can get the Old Pocketwatch even if you didn’t personally kill the boss. Just being in the group is enough (for now).
2. Visit the Priestess in Roundtable Hold
- Head to the main room in Roundtable Hold.
- Find the Priestess near the Roundtable itself.
- Interact with her and hand over the Old Pocketwatch.

3. Watch the Transformation
- A short cutscene plays out where the Priestess sheds her white robes…
- She reveals herself as the Duchess, and officially joins the fight.
- After this scene, the Duchess becomes playable permanently from your character list.
✅Is Duchess Really Worth Unlocking?
Absolutely. The Duchess is:
- One of the most mobile characters in the game.
- Great for advanced players or teams with good coordination.
- Loaded with synergy potential, especially with damage-dealing allies.
If you love characters that reward smart plays, perfect dodges, and strategic setups, the Duchess will feel right at home in your lineup.
