Intel Showcases Panther Lake CPUs at Computex 2025, Blending Power and Efficiency

At Computex 2025 in Taipei, Intel gave us our first official look at its upcoming Panther Lake processors, the next big leap in the Intel Core Ultra 300 series. These chips are positioned as the successors to both Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake, and they’re expected to land in PCs sometime in early 2026.

Built on Intel’s Advanced 18A Process

What really stands out about Panther Lake is that it’s fabricated on Intel’s new 18A process node—a major step forward in Intel’s foundry roadmap. The company used this showcase to prove that 18A is no longer just hype—it’s production-ready.

According to Wccftech, Panther Lake brings together the best of two worlds:

  • Performance of Arrow Lake’s H-series CPUs
  • Power efficiency of Lunar Lake processors

That makes this new chip an interesting hybrid aimed at both power users and ultra-efficient laptop designs.

Core Design and Architecture

In the demo system, Panther Lake was running with 16 CPU cores, broken down as:

  • 4 P-cores (likely Cougar Cove)
  • 8 E-cores (likely Darkmont)
  • 4 LP-cores (potentially Skymont)

This combo points toward a refined hybrid design, building on the big.LITTLE architecture model Intel’s been pushing in recent generations.

Xe3 “Celestial” GPU Architecture Onboard

On the graphics side, Panther Lake is also expected to debut Intel’s next-gen Xe3 GPU architecture, codenamed Celestial. While specific GPU specs weren’t disclosed, it’s a significant jump that should deliver improved performance in gaming, media, and AI tasks.

Clock Speeds and Performance Expectations

The test unit Intel showcased was running at 2.0GHz base and 3.0GHz boost, though those numbers are just early evaluation stats. Expect clock speeds to climb in the final retail versions.

The focus at Computex was more on showing Panther Lake’s architecture and readiness than raw benchmarks—but the fact that 18A is alive and kicking is a strong signal for Intel’s future.

Ready to Challenge Snapdragon’s Next-Gen Arm Chips

As Intel moves forward with Panther Lake, all eyes will be on how it compares with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon X2 Elite, which features the 3rd-gen Oryon CPUs. Those chips are Arm-based and rumored to bring huge leaps in both efficiency and performance.

Intel seems ready for the challenge. Panther Lake could be a crucial player in keeping x86 competitive in the era of power-efficient Arm processors.
