Maelle’s Stance System Explained

Maelle has three core Stances:

• Offensive Stance: Boosts damage output, but increases damage taken.
  
• Defensive Stance: Reduces incoming damage, and gives +1 AP when successfully Dodging or Parrying.
  
• Virtuose Stance: Increases damage with no downside. This is her ideal mode when dishing out big hits like Percee.
  

Usually, Maelle starts battles Stanceless, meaning you need to set up her Stance manually. That’s where Medalum becomes a game-changer.

How to Get Medalum in Expedition 33

There are two ways to unlock Medalum for Maelle:

1. Win as Maelle in the Arena (Main Quest) at Gestral Village
   
   • Fight The Stranger during the tournament.
     
   • Highly recommended method—straightforward and early.
     
2. Defeat Golgra in Four Duels
   
   • Locations: Chief’s House, Sacred River (Friendship Quest), Dark Gestral Arena, and back in Gestral Village.
     
   • A much longer route, ideal if you missed the first opportunity.
     

Note: If you play as Lune or Gustave in the Arena, their rewards are easier to find elsewhere, so go with Maelle to secure Medalum.
