Modder Restores Pal Gliding in Palworld as Dev Teases Terraria Collab for Summer

After Pocketpair removed gliding in Palworld due to Nintendo’s lawsuit, a PC mod has brought the feature back—just as the Terraria crossover gets a summer launch window.

Just a week after Palworld dev Pocketpair stripped out Pal-based gliding due to Nintendo’s ongoing legal action, a PC modder has swooped in to bring the feature back. Meanwhile, Pocketpair is keeping the updates coming, announcing that its much-anticipated Terraria collaboration is officially set for a summer release.

The gliding mechanic—where players could soar through the air with the help of their Pals—was removed earlier this month in a patch that added standard gliders as an alternative. Pocketpair said the change was part of “yet another compromise” in response to Nintendo’s infringement claims, which accuse the dev of violating multiple patents. These reportedly include gameplay mechanics like catching creatures with a throwable device and riding them afterward.

Nintendo’s legal action, filed last September, has been a growing thorn in Pocketpair’s side. The first signs of friction came in December, when the team quietly removed the ability to catch Pals by tossing Pokéball-style spheres. The recent gliding change was another step to “prevent further disruptions” to the game’s development.

But PC players aren’t backing down that easily. Modder Primarinabee has released the Glider Restoration mod via Nexus Mods, aimed at restoring the beloved feature for those who miss soaring around with their Pals. The mod cleverly works around the update that removed the function, but you’ll still need to have a glider in your inventory to trigger it. According to the mod’s creator, it’s “not quite perfect,” but it “basically reverses Patch 0.5.5 without requiring you to forego future game updates.”

On the official side of things, Pocketpair has confirmed that the Terraria crossover event—first teased earlier this year—is set to go live this summer across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Titled Tides of Terraria, the update will let players “catch, train, fight, and work” with monsters from Re-Logic’s iconic sandbox game, just like they do with Pals in Palworld.

And it’s not just about the crossover. The summer update will also feature brand-new islands, new Pals, and even more surprises, with Pocketpair promising additional reveals “over the next few weeks.”

So while the lawsuit drama continues, both modders and devs are keeping Palworld alive and evolving.
