Monster Hunter Wilds First Big Update Is STACKED

Monster Hunter Wilds’ First Big Update Is STACKED: Fashion, Fights, and a Freakin’ Bowling Minigame

Alright, Monster Hunter Wilds just had its first big title update stream (you can peep it above), and man—it’s loaded. Like, Capcom clearly wasn’t playing around with this one. They’re dropping a ton of new stuff for veterans and newbies alike, and it’s all landing April 4. If you want the nitty-gritty breakdown, there’s a roadmap post for that, but here’s the fun version:

First Off: Mizutsune Is Back—and She’s Bringing the Drip

Yup, our bubbly queen Mizutsune is making a comeback. She’s sliding into Wilds to give you a glittery beatdown—and yeah, she’s also bringing some sick new armor sets to craft. This is what we all really care about: fashion.

You’ll be able to hunt her down if you’re HR 21 or higher—just hit up Kanya in the Scarlet Forest and get ready for a stylish brawl.

For the Hardcore: Arch-Tempered Trouble

Capcom must’ve heard all the “game’s too easy” chatter because now we’ve got two spicy endgame hunts incoming. First up, Zoh Shia’s back. But the real star of the show? Arch-tempered Rey Dau.

If you’re new like me and had to Google it, Arch-tempered monsters are basically the “let’s ruin your weekend” version of existing monsters. They hit harder, live longer, and want you to suffer (in a fun way).

Both monsters will be HR 50 content. Rey Dau’s fight will drop later on as an event quest, so you’ve got a little time to prep. And of course, all of them come with their own custom armor sets—because why else are we here?

Say Hello to the Grand Hub 👋

Veteran players weren’t too happy with Wilds’ scattered camp setup—and Capcom listened. The Grand Hub is finally here, and it’s giving us a real space to hang out, flex our armor, and do dumb side stuff with friends. Here’s what it’s packing:

  • A whole bowling minigame (yes, really)
  • A diva who just vibes and sings for that moody background flair
  • Key NPCs like Felicita from Windward Plains (she helps with squad stuff)
  • Seasonal Quests, starting with Festival of Accord: Blossom Dance on April 21
  • Palico chefs, aka the most important part of any MH game

You unlock the Grand Hub at HR 16 by chatting with Suja in the Peaks of Accord. It’s also where you’ll find the next big feature…

Arena Quests: Time to Speedrun Everything

Arena Quests are making a comeback—basically timed monster fights with limited gear. Think of it like a leaderboard trial to flex your skills. But this time around, there’s a twist: Free Challenge variants, where you can bring whatever OP loadout you want. Time to go full meta.

Drip Update: You Can Dress Alma Now

So yeah… you can now change Alma’s outfit and glasses, because apparently our in-game role also makes us her personal stylist? Sure. Healthy work dynamic, no notes. On top of that, Wilds is getting its first paid cosmetics pack, so you can throw even more money at Capcom for that sweet, sweet fashion.

This Update Goes Hard

For someone still new to the series, I gotta say—I’m pretty hyped. Capcom really dropped a ton of content, and fast. Between getting smacked around by Arch-tempered monsters and chilling in the Grand Hub, there’s a lot to do. And yeah, I fully expect to get destroyed by those HR 50 bosses… but at least I’ll look good doing it.

The free update drops April 4. Let’s just hope employers are ready for the wave of sudden “sick” days.
