Monster Hunter Wilds Switch Axe Guide – Moveset & How to Use It

Learn how to master the Switch Axe in Monster Hunter Wilds! Discover its moveset, how to switch between Axe and Sword Mode, and the best way to use this powerful weapon.

The Switch Axe is one of the most complex and powerful weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. It transforms between Axe Mode and Sword Mode, giving players a mix of speed, power, and explosive attacks. If you love aggressive combat and flashy combos, this weapon is for you!

How to Use the Switch Axe

The Switch Axe has two modes:

  • Axe Mode – Fast and mobile, great for setting up attacks and dodging.
  • Sword Mode – Slower but more powerful, with explosive attacks.

To use the weapon well, you need to build up the Switch Gauge. Using Axe Mode fills this gauge, allowing you to switch to Sword Mode and activate the Amped State. In this state, your attacks become even stronger, and you can perform powerful finishers like Full Release Slash and Element Discharge.

Since the Switch Axe doesn’t have a shield, you’ll need to be careful with your movements. However, it has some defensive options, like Fade Slash and Offset Rising Slash, to help avoid damage.
