Monster Hunter Wilds: Where can i Find Zatoh

The Forbidden Lands in Monster Hunter Wilds are packed with new creatures, breathtaking environments, and intriguing NPCs. Among the many important characters players will meet is Zatoh, a native of the Windward Plains and the leader of Kunafa, Windsong Village. Finding the Zatoh is damn crucial to progressing in the game, unlocking new quests, and gaining access to valuable village resources.


Where Can i Find Zatoh in Monster Hunter Wilds

First Encounter: Kunafa, Windsong Village

Early in the campaign, players will rescue the Nona from a pack of Balahara and Y’sai from a Chatacabra. Afterward, both characters will request an escort back to Kunafa, Windsong Village, located in the Windward Plains.

Upon arriving at the village, players will first meet Zatoh, who initially dismisses the hunter and does not allow full access to the village. At this stage players must continue their main questline before getting another chance to interact with him.

Second Encounter: Rescuing Zatoh

Later in the story, while exploring the Scarlet Forest, players will be sent back to the Windward Plains to assist Kunafa in locating Zatoh, triggering the quest “Balahara of the Sandsea.”

  • Zatoh will be found fleeing from another pack of Balahara.
  • Players must intervene and hunt the Balahara, marking the first time this monster can be fought in the game.

After the battle Zatoh softens his attitude toward the hunter, thanking them for their help. This moment will officially unlock Kunafa Village as a fully accessible location, including amenities, vendors, and a fast-travel point in the Windward Plains.

Zatoh’s Role in Later Quests

Following this, Zatoh aids players in their journey to the Oilwell Basin but eventually returns to Kunafa Village, where he remains for the rest of the game. Players can always find him there after establishing a base camp in the Oilwell Basin.


Zatoh’s High-Rank Side Quest: “Beware the Gypceros”

Once the players complete the main story and enter the high-rank, Zatoh offers a side quest called “Beware the Gypceros.”

  • This mission requires the players to track and hunt a Gypceros, a winged wyvern found only in the Windward Plains during high-rank free exploration.
  • After successfully hunting the Gypceros, returning to Zatoh rewards players with:
    • 3 Carbalite Ore
    • 1 Sharp Kunafa Cheese
    • Hunter rank progression

Zatoh is a key figure in Monster Hunter Wilds, serving as both a leader of Kunafa Village and a quest giver for essential story progression. Finding him unlocks valuable resources, quests, and travel points, making his presence crucial to a hunter’s journey.
