Ahdarji’s Heirloom Walkthrough in Oblivion Remastered
The Thieves Guild calls on the Hero once again in Oblivion Remastered, and this time, it’s about snagging a pretty elusive—and often buggy—ring. Ahdarji’s Heirloom is definitely one of the more interesting Thieves Guild quests, but also one that can get frustrating if things don’t line up right.
Still, it’s absolutely worth doing. Thieves Guild quests are a blast if you love sneaking, lockpicking, and pickpocketing, and finishing them eventually leads you into one of the coolest questlines in the game involving the Gray Fox himself.
How to Start the Ahdarji’s Heirloom Quest
First things first—you’ll need to fence 200 gold worth of stolen goods. Once you’ve done that, head over to S’Krivva’s house in Bravil. She’s your Doyen now, and when you ask her about “Special Jobs,” she’ll hand you the Ahdarji’s Heirloom quest.
From there, make your way to Leyawiin. You’ll find Ahdarji hanging out at the Five Claws Lodge around midday or at the Three Sisters’ Inn in the evening. Talk to her to officially kick things off.
How to Question Amusei
After chatting with Ahdarji, she’ll let you know that the thief—Amusei—is locked up in Leyawiin Castle’s prison.
- Head to the castle, find the prison area, and bribe the guard for 20 gold to get access to Amusei.
- Amusei will spill the info you need, but only if you sneak him a lockpick so he can make his escape.
Important: Don’t kill Amusei, even though Ahdarji hints at it. He’s going to be important later on in the Thieves Guild storyline.
🔔 Pro Tip: After speaking to Amusei, go back and tell Ahdarji. This can help avoid a bug where the ring never appears where it’s supposed to later.
How to Steal Ahdarji’s Ring
Alright, now it’s time for the fun part—stealing the ring.
First, find a beggar in Leyawiin and bribe them. They’ll spill the beans about a secret torture chamber used for imprisoning Argonians inside Leyawiin Castle.
Next, you’ll need to butter up Hlidara Mothril, the Countess’ assistant. Use the Persuasion Wheel to get her Disposition up to 70, then ask about the castle’s dark secrets and the Caro family ring.
At this point, you’ll learn the Countess stashes her ring in a lockbox in her private chambers at night—and there’s a secret way in.
Sneaking Into the Bedchambers
Wait until 1 AM (unless it’s the 15th, 16th, or 17th of the month—bad timing). Then:
- Head into the Castle Leyawiin Basement.
- Look for a lever near a barrel—this opens the way to the secret torture chamber.
- Keep moving until you find another hidden lever that gets you into the private chambers.
⚡ Important Tip:
Before moving into the bedchambers, unequip your weapons and armor. You’ll need full stealth because a guard patrols the area.
Once you’re inside:
- Hug the left wall and find the Countess’ room.
- Inside, both the Count and Countess are sleeping (don’t wake them!).
- The lockbox with the ring is to the right of the bed.
You can either pick the lock or pickpocket a key from the sleeping nobles (save your game first, because waking them can cause problems fast).
Wrapping It Up
- Sneak back out the way you came to avoid alerting anyone.
- Return the ring to Ahdarji for your 200 Gold reward.
- Then, report back to S’Krivva to pick up another 200 Gold and get promoted to Prowler rank in the Thieves Guild.
If for some reason the ring doesn’t spawn in the lockbox (because, yep, Oblivion bugs love to strike), you can fix it with this console command on PC:
