Oblivion Remastered Already Has Over 200 Mods
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered hit the ground running with over 200 mods just a day after launch.
Released on April 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the remaster caught fans off guard after weeks of swirling rumors—yet it was a welcome surprise.
Developed by Virtuos, Oblivion Remastered stays true to the original 2006 classic while giving it a much-needed facelift. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game features cutting-edge tech like dynamic lighting and virtual shadow mapping to enhance visuals and effects.
It still holds onto the same beloved storyline and voice acting, but with all the GPU-heavy upgrades, performance can be a bit rough on modern PCs.
Luckily, modders wasted no time stepping in to help.
Even though the official FAQ said mods aren’t supported, that didn’t stop the community. According to PC Guide, over 200 mods have already popped up on NexusMods.
Some of these focus on fixing performance issues, like the “Ultimate Engine Tweaks” mod. This one’s a lifesaver—it smooths out stuttering, boosts frame rates, cuts down input lag, and even sharpens visuals without hurting image quality. Pretty handy if you’re just barely meeting the minimum specs.

Beyond performance fixes, there’s a bunch of other quality-of-life mods making the rounds. “Difficulty Slider Fixed” smooths out the crazy jumps in combat damage from difficulty changes.
“Universal Achievement Unblocker” keeps your achievements from getting locked out on Steam or Xbox Game Pass. And if you’re all about exploration, the “Full Map Unlocked” mod lets you see all of Cyrodiil’s map markers right from the start.
With new mods being added almost hourly, it looks like Oblivion Remastered is heading down the same path as Skyrim—where the modding community keeps the game alive and thriving for years. Whether you’re in it for performance boosts, gameplay tweaks, or just fresh content, there’s already a lot to explore. And this is just the beginning.
