Oblivion Remastered: Complete Thieves Guild Walkthrough – Become a Master Thief Like the Gray Fox

Ready to join the Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered? This full walkthrough covers every quest, every job, and every trick you’ll need to rise through the ranks and steal your way to the top.
Oblivion Remastered: Full Thieves Guild Guide
The Thieves Guild easily stands out as one of the coolest and most unforgettable questlines in Oblivion Remastered, but being a top-tier thief isn’t just a walk in the park. Whether you’re figuring out how to join or tackling every last heist, you’re gonna want to know how to be as slick as the Gray Fox himself.
This walkthrough’s got you covered — every mission, every step, and all the loot. Let’s get sneaky.
First Things First: Hit Level 10 and Grab That Skeleton Key
Before you dive deep, getting to Level 10 and picking up the Skeleton Key will make your life (and lockpicking) a whole lot easier.

How to Join the Thieves Guild
To start your life of crime, you’ll need the “Finding the Thieves Guild” quest. It kicks off once you check out the Gray Fox bounty poster at the Waterfront in the Imperial City. From there, chat up any guard about the Gray Fox, then cozy up to a Beggar with some coin and sweet-talk them with the Disposition wheel.
This will lead you to the slummy part of the Waterfront where, at midnight, Armand Christophe will be hanging out at the Garden of Dareloth.
First Test: “May the Best Thief Win”
Your initiation? Steal Amantius Allectus’ diary before the other two wannabe thieves can grab it. His house is near the Temple District’s Arboretum entrance — get the diary from the ground floor desk and haul it back to Armand. Win the race, and boom — you’re officially in.
Part One: Armand Christophe’s Special Jobs

Where to Find Him:
Same spot — Waterfront slums at midnight.
Pro Tip:
You need to sell stolen goods to Ongar the World-Weary to unlock more quests. Hit up Red Diamond Jewelry for an easy haul.
Job Progression:
Quest | Gold Fenced |
Untaxing the Poor | 50 |
The Elven Maiden | 100 |
Untaxing the Poor
Reward: 50 Gold + Footpad Rank
Sneak into the South Watchtower between 9-11 AM or PM, snatch the tax records from Hieronymus Lex’s quarters, and hand ’em over to Armand.
The Elven Maiden
Reward: 100 Gold + Bandit Rank + Fence Access (Dar Jee in Leyawiin)
Sneak into Cheydinhal’s Chapel Undercroft and steal Llathasa’s Bust. Avoid looting coffins (ghost alert!) and dodge patrolling guards. Afterward, frame Myvryna Arano by planting the bust in her house, then rat her out to Lex.
Part Two: S’Krivva’s Special Jobs

Where to Find Her:
Bravil, inside S’Krivva’s House.
Gold Fencing Goals:
Quest | Gold Fenced |
Ahdarji’s Heirloom | 200 |
Misdirection | 300 |
Lost Histories | 400 |
Taking Care of Lex | 500 |
Ahdarji’s Heirloom
Reward: 400 Gold + Prowler Rank
Steal a stolen ring from Leyawiin Castle. Pro tip: Wait till after 1 AM when the Countess is asleep and use the hidden passage in the basement. Beware of that annoying ring-spawn glitch though!
Misdirection

Reward: 300 Gold + Cat Burglar Rank
Snag Hromir’s Icestaff from the Arcane University. Best time to do it? Between 1 AM and 7 AM. Afterward, frame someone with a sneaky note from the Gray Fox and do some rooftop spying on Hieronymus Lex.
Lost Histories
Reward: 400 Gold
Find Theranis in Skingrad’s dungeon. Follow the blood trail, battle the Pale Lady, sneak out with Amusei, and retrieve the stolen book from behind Nerastarel’s House.
Taking Care of Lex
Reward: 500 Gold + Shadowfoot Rank + Orrin Fence Access
Steal a recommendation letter, forge it, swipe the Imperial Seal, and convince Countess Umbranox to ship Lex off to Anvil. Smooth criminal stuff.
Part Three: Gray Fox’s Special Jobs

Once you’re deep in, the Gray Fox himself will come calling. You’ll have to fence a decent amount of stolen goods and wait 24 in-game hours to get the next quest.
Quest | Gold Fenced |
Turning a Blind Eye | 600 |
Arrow of Extrication | 700 |
Boots of Springheel Jak | 800 |
The Ultimate Heist | 1,000 |
Turning a Blind Eye
Reward: 500 Gold
Infiltrate the Temple of the Ancestor Moths, steal Sivilla’s Stone, and escape through the cave. Kill or sneak — your call — no Blood Price either way.
Arrow of Extrication
Reward: 500 Gold + Master Thief Rank + New Fence (Fathis Ules)
Break into Castle Bravil’s wizard quarters, uncover secret passages, and make a daring escape with the Arrow of Extrication.
Boots of Springheel Jak
Reward: 500 Gold
Find out Jakben is actually a vampire, kill him, and grab the legendary Boots of Springheel Jak from his coffin.
The Ultimate Heist
Reward: Gray Cowl of Nocturnal + Thieves Guild HQ Room
The big finale. Break into the Imperial Palace, solve the Hall of Epochs puzzle, steal an Elder Scroll, and change your fate forever.
If you’re sneaky enough, you’ll not only end up rich beyond your wildest dreams but also take the place of the legendary Gray Fox himself. Time to embrace the shadows.
