Oblivion Remastered: How To Start Every Mages Guild Recommendation

Ready to join the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered? Here’s a full walkthrough on how to start and complete all seven recommendation quests without getting stuck.
Oblivion Remastered: How To Start Every Mages Guild Recommendation
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has a ton of different factions for players to join, but if you’re curious about the magic side of things, you’ll definitely want to check out the Mages Guild.
The good news is, you don’t even have to be a full-blown mage or have a massive Magicka pool to work your way through it. Whether you’re sneaking around or swinging a sword, you can still make it to the top. But obviously, if you’re packing spells, you’re going to have an easier (and sometimes more fun) time handling the challenges.
How to Start Each Guild Recommendation in Oblivion Remastered
Before you can actually become a full Mages Guild member, you’ll need to grab 7 Recommendations from different guild halls across Cyrodiil. And yeah, you might be thinking, “Do I have to search every building in every city?” Luckily, no.
You can just open your Quest tab, make Join the Mages Guild your active quest, and hit “Show on Map.” It’ll pop a marker on the next guild you haven’t handled yet, making the whole process super smooth. Once you grab a recommendation, it’ll branch into its own quest so you can track everything easily.

All Mages Guild Recommendation Quests
You can tackle these in any order, but here’s a rundown of what to expect and how to beat each one without getting lost:
🔮 Bruma Mages Guild Recommendation
- Head to Bruma and speak with Jeanne Frasoric.
- She’ll ask you to find J’skar—who’s actually invisible somewhere inside the guild hall.
- Solutions:
- If you’re magic-savvy, you can learn Dispel Other from Alves Uvenim at the Leyawiin Mages Guild.
- Not a mage? Use Speechcraft on Volanaro to get him to help you. He’ll cast the spell and make J’skar visible.
- If you’re magic-savvy, you can learn Dispel Other from Alves Uvenim at the Leyawiin Mages Guild.

🔮 Skingrad Mages Guild Recommendation
- Visit Skingrad and talk to Adrienne.
- Head to the map marker, find the cave, and rescue Erthor inside.
- Make sure you clear the cave of enemies so he can follow you safely back to Adrienne for your reward.
🔮 Leyawiin Mages Guild Recommendation
- Head to Leyawiin and speak with Agata and Dagail.
- Follow the quest markers to a nearby dungeon.
- Fight your way through and grab Dagail’s Amulet from a locked room (you’ll need a key from the dungeon boss).
- Important: Talk to Agata first, not Dagail, when you get back, or you might trigger a glitch.

🔮 Anvil Mages Guild Recommendation
- Go to Anvil and talk to Carahil.
- Head out to a marked location and meet Arielle Jurard.
- Rent a room at the inn, say you’re a merchant, and wait for Caminalda to approach.
- Rest in your rented room, leave, and then ambush Caminalda when she tries to rob you.
- Defeat her, report back to Carahil, and you’re set.
🔮 Bravil Mages Guild Recommendation
- Visit Bravil and find Kud-Ei.
- Follow the quest marker to Varon Vamori and use Speechcraft to boost his disposition.
- He’ll tell you about a stolen staff hidden in the Imperial City.
- Break into the house at night, steal the staff from the basement, and bring it back to Kud-Ei.
🔮 Chorrol Mages Guild Recommendation
- Travel to Chorrol and speak to Teekeeus.
- You’ll also need to talk to Earana, who wants a special book.
- Find the book at a burned-out campsite (marked on your map).
- Give the book to Teekeeus, not Earana, to secure your recommendation.
🔮 Cheydinhal Mages Guild Recommendation
- Hit up Cheydinhal and speak with Falcar.
- When he’s not nearby, talk to Deetsan, who will help you.
- She gives you the Buoyancy spell and a key to the well behind the guild.
- Swim through the well, grab the Ring of Burden from a corpse (watch your carry weight!), and head back.
- Find the Black Soul Gems in Falcar’s room and give them to Deetsan to lock in your final recommendation.
The Mages Guild recommendation quests in Oblivion Remastered are a great way to ease into the world of Cyrodiil’s magic scene.
Even if you’re not a spellcaster, you’ll pick up some neat spells, gear, and XP along the way—and once you’re in, the Arcane University opens up a whole new world of custom spells and enchantments.
If you’re into magic (or just want another powerful faction at your back), it’s 100% worth knocking these out early. Good luck, and may your spells never fizzle! 🔥✨
